Just bought my Cheokee xj a week ago. I noticed something weird . When I open the hood, the jeep running, it runs great, no nocking , no ticks, oil pressure is at 40 warm, doesn't smoke, but when I walk to the driver side of the Jeep, I hear like a knocking ? So I go back to the engine bay, and nothing, go back to the driver side, buy the front tire, and I hear this knocking !!!!!!!!!!! Is this my motor !? I hope not, I just spent all my money on this jeep, and cant afford a rebuild.

Torque converter bolts are loose. About a 45 minutes job, taking your time and cleaning as you go. Do a search for a write up on the fix.

How much does your jeep vibrate at idle? Mine vibrates a little kinda like a misfire.

No I'm just wondering. My Automotive teacher says it sounds and feels like a misfire. I really didn't even notice it until he pointed it out.

At idle, rez the engine to 2500 and hold and see if it misfires. Chances are you may need to steam clean your engine or so ething is just lose

We used it as a test vehicle for today's class. We tested the compression of each cylinder, we also did a cylinder leak test. So I don't know if we screwed anything up or it was acting like that before.

"I really didn't even notice it until he pointed it out."

It is what it is, no matter what we say, we'll never convince you otherwise.
