i have an 88 xj with a busted np242. 4.0 auto. what should the spine count be on the transfercase. i havnt pulled it out yet. i was trying to find a replacement before i take it out. did a search and getting some conflicting replys. this one is bone stock for now. lift and tires coming soon. 31's will be big enough for what i want to do but other mods will follow. tghanks
Input Spline:
Most applications use a 23 spline female input shaft.

Is this the cause of my 6.6 mpg? I got a hold of a temp gun today, pretty cool, anyway the temp going into the cat was about 160 and coming out was around 300?

You should know I joke lol. Unfortunately I have noticed the attitudes too.. I think 'Fab' had a guy who busted the bad dude attitude at first on some thread about using carbon fiber to tie in his fender flares or something.
Also, wanted to ask... I saw something about a guy pulling the guts from his XJ prop valve and simply removing an o-ring to allow 50/50 split pressue... at first glance I am hesitant and will likely still hold out for a ZJ prop valve, but does this other mod hold value?

I'm going to be taking the headliner out in a few weeks and want to make an overhead console but I'm not sure if I should make it out of aluminum or wood. What would be the best things to put up there besides a CB. Also I have some spare 5x7 speakers I may want to put up there.

I have a friend that had an idea. He has been looking around to build aa sort of budget sleeper drag suv and he said he was thinking about buying a cherokee, lowering it, stroking and supercharging it. I know it would look stupid and it goes against what a cherokee is but could it be done? Would he end up with a fastish car?
PS I promos its not my idea. I'm going lifted my coil spacers and shackles are already on the way to my house.

A 2WD Cherokee will simplify things with the lowering. Cut (don't torch) a loop out of the coils up front and do a SUA swap on the rear with some 3" lift springs. I think the AW4 can handle power reasonably well if he goes the auto route, but I'd swap in a 700r4 if I were doing a motor swap anyway. I'm not familiar enough with manual transmissions to give advice in that department.

Start with Team Pettycash Racing. They don't do much expensive work due to their racing rules, but they have a good bit of experience.

There simply aren't many performance gains to be had from the 4.0L. Pretty much anything above airflow mods and injectors will require mods to sensors if not full PCM replacement.
