Hosed down the engine, cleaned battery terminals and same problem. I guess I need a new alternator?

Likely. Advance Auto can test it.

Drums are a massive hassle and should be banned Yes, XJ drums have the little access port for adjusting the shoes. There should be a rubber plug on the backing plate right underneath the axle tube.

Tires will make a huge difference when stopping on ice. If you have all seasons with a hard compound you'll be skating around a lot.

I need a maintenance manual for an 88 with wiring diagrams. If I knew I was going to get another 1 10 years later I would have kept the factory manuals I had. Hind sight is 20/20.

I removed my 98 Cherokee headliner, cleaned it , and on a tip from my brother in law, used a product from Dip-your-car.com ( the wheel kit comes with 4 cans, did a perfect job.) My shade tree mechanic dad was impressed enough that he wanted his 93 Cherokee done as well! The website offers multiple colors, I recommend buying 1 extra can for touch up, you can scratch the headliner when reinstalling. Happy Jeeping!

Could be a few things.

Bad Throttle Position Sensor.

Bad connections in the trans plugs. See post 10 in my link below.

Bad connection at the tCU, located up under the passenger side dash.

Is anyone overfilled on oil when they add 6 qts?

I show it over by about 1/4 of a quart.. and that is with letting it all drain including changing the filter.

Not on my Jeep. That happens when I put 6 quarts in my lawnmower though.

Is that including the oil filter? Once you fire the engine up it blasts into the filter, which stock I think holds 1/2 to 3/4 L

In my mission to get rid of the all the clicks and clanks that have been bugging me for years, I replaced my motor mounts a few days ago, transmission mount yesterday, and now I have what I hope is an easy question to get rid on the next one on my list. The bracket that the rear hatch catches on rattles and I can wiggle it around with pretty much no effort, so how can I access the other side to tighten the bolts up?
Not sure if any of this makes any difference, but its a 97 4 door with the 4.0. Thanks!

I'm about to take off and clean the NSS on my XJ. Just sprayed it with some PB. Letting the exhaust cool off. Any words from the wise? I've heard/prying the NSS off can suck. I've seen people recommend and warn from using screwdrivers as levers to push it off. Can the shaft be lubricated to assist in NSS reinstall? Hopefully this job will go better than I am planning on.
