Where'd you get it? An email? Looks like you attached a thumbnail instead of the big version.

Here's what you'll need to know.

Aisin Warner AX-15 is on the left, Peugot BA 10/5 on the right:

Don't be fooled by the AX-5. It looks pretty much identical to an AX-15, but the ring that joins the main half of the gearbox to the rear (shift tower is on top of the rear half) is made of iron instead of aluminum. Magnet sticks: AX-5 Magnet falls off: AX-15. Or a really really dirty AX-5 and your magnet sucks.

Both of those transmissions have internal slaves which are a lot of fun to work on. (Fun like trying to perform a self-lobotomy with a fork.) External slave is nicer to work with:

So is there a way to convert ax-15 to external slave?

Yes, you need the bell housing, external slave, throw out bearing and bearing retainer plate.

Yeeeep http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/l...p-pics-965067/

Short version: Swap the bearing retainer crap in front of the main shaft, bellhousing, salve cyl. The actual transmission is the same.

Good to know. I've always toyed with the idea of swapping in a 5 speed. Would hate to put an internal slave on there.

Idk if anyone will know this, but ill ask anyway.

In a ZJ, what is easiest: an ax-15 swap or AW4 swap?
