Im looking to upgrade axles, looking to find a hp 44 for front and still undecided on 9" or 8.8 rear, my question is what is the best gearing for woods trail, crawling, ect. This will never be a street vehicle.

how hard is it to change a thermostat in a 01 cherokee? The heater never gets warm warm. thinking it might be the thermostat being stuck wide open or something. Thought id check that before even thinking bout the heater core. haha.

Not hard, drain a little bit of coolant, undo the hose on the housing, unbolt housing and coolant temp sensor, pull old thermostat install new in reverse with new gasket.
Check coolant level?

Just do it all in one run. Water pump, tstat, radiator, fan clutch, any hoses that look suspect.

Then you won't have to worry about it for a long while.

Rather than getting a new aftermarket bumper, I have an arc welder, is it a bad idea to weld on recovery points and some sort of custom stinger bar to the stock bumper?

The stock bumper is not for recovery, its flimsy metal and would not hold up at all. Most aftermarket bumpers tie into the unibody for support with 4-7 bolts going down each side. Do not attempt to make recovery points on stock bumpers. You will hurt someone when the bumper comes flying off from a good tug! Save up or build a bumper yourself if you have the skills.

Hey guys im new here and I had a question about a 1988 MJ. I know know this is the xj forum and google brought me here. I was looking at buying a 1988 MJ pioneer amd wanted to know what was different on the pioneer than a regular mj. I was reading on the "stock comanche and cherokee specs" thread, but it was closed so I couldnt ask there. It said nothing about the pioneer. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
