Ehh if it was on my jeep. I would do it cause all the bolts are stainless steel, but this time it's my girlfriend's jeep and I think I would break something if I drop the crossmember and be more hassle than it should be. So it's possible to do it without dropping the x member? I m sure it mean doing it blind

Getting ready to shim my rear axle to get rid of vibes, but I also am planning on replacing my trans mount soon. Should I do the mount first, ie will it lift up the t-case more and throw off my measurements for the rear driveline?

So 4wd problem
After installing my spartan d30 front locker whenever I go to switch out of 4wd it takes a lot of fooling around (going in reverse, drifting in neutral, shifting through the transmission gears, shifting through transfer case gears) to get it back in 2wd. It's really annoying

Kinda long story:
1988 XJ 4.0 4x4 AW4
Randomly this summer it started getting a "jerk" while driving. Speed didn't effect it, gear didn't effect it, hot or cold didn't effect it. I would be driving steady at any rate of speed and randomly it would jerk a single time what felt like forward to back. Some days it did it multiple times in a 10+ mile trip, some days it doesn't do it at all.
I drained and filled tranny fluid with fresh fluid
New spark plugs,wires,cap,rotor, tps,IAC.
No changes were noted after all of that was swapped out, I am having a bit of a rough unsteady idle almost as if I have a miss. Not its not constantly idling rough, it randomly starts acting up.
NOW: I am still having the jerking issues and at times when a light turns green I give it gas, its almost like the keep completely dies then just takes off. Almost like a big bog off the line. I'm not punching it either and choking it for fuel, it will be steady slow throttle and I'll get the bog then it just takes off.
Sorry for long post guys.
