I'd make a frame of sorts secured to the floor to keep that sucker from moving. Otherwise use real anchors bolted throught the floor to strap to, not those chintzy factory rivet things that I popped off so long ago...

The stock ones are plastic rings that keep no more than rocks out of the axle tubes, prone to cracking and falling off.
The performance seals seal the axle tubes completely and will prevent muck from making its way to the seals in the pumpkin. Good if you play in the dirty stuff. I pulled an axle shaft from a trail rig and the axle tube was full of dried mud.

I was planning on using 2 bolts through frame for 2 straps and the third would be able to swing around. I need to pull the carpet up and look around. Just wanted to see what others have done

Stock "axle seals" install inside the differential and contain oil. The plastic rings are debris guards and are not called "axle seals" anywhere in the literature. Sounds like you're talking about the AlloyUSA product that replaces those rings with a greased quasi-seal.

Correct, I was referring to the axle tube seals. Mine used to get sand and salt-water in the tubes.

I was referring to these. So they go inside the pumpkin where the tubes meet it or on the outside near the hubs?

They go on the outside by axle joint. Some use PVC bushings for the same thing.

Is there any benefits just to do these as an upgrade over stock for a DD?

For just a DD it's very minor, but if you ever see sand or mud it's a huge benefit. Keeps all the crap out of the axle tube and prolongs the life of the inner seal which is annoying to change. The stock shield really is only there to keep rocks out.

I just used emory cloth and it cleaned up nice, pitting was minor if any.
This XJ came from inland Washington State and had zero rust or corrosion, all the suspension bolts came out easily and even the clear coat is intact. I hunted it down to have a good platform to wrench on.

What's the best electric rock crawler 1:10 you guys buy?

Where the most reasonable place to order one?

Is it the axial scx10? I've found a bunch of those but different styles like a JK, truck etc.
