XJ Ask the Question Thread

So, I'm going to take my XJ in for that recall at some point.. but I called to set up the appointment and they can only do it on week-days and will need it "all day" which is really inconvenient for me... so I want to make sure my cat is stock before I go through the trouble of getting an appointment set up... is there any way I can tell if mine is the one that came stock?

When I pull on the parking brake lever it doesn't "click" anymore. It also will not stay up. I have "m.m'd" (Mickey Moused) a temp fix with a 4" piece of old shovel handle. But this is really annoying.
I have gone through all the online stores and cannot find even the name or part number for the lever or any or the parts that make sense to me. Can someone point me to a site, a member that knows this kind of thing, or even just list the parts I should check?
Thanks.

Yours might look a little different, but there's a 13mm nut on there that you can adjust to tighten it up. BUT...if your rear brakes haven't been serviced in a while...you may want to check there first. There are also adjusters on the drums.

I suggest removing the center console (easy) this will expose the working parts of the e-brake handle for diagnosis and can likely be easily fixed.

Check Engine Light Mine has been on for months. My Ultra Gauge does not come up with any codes so I took it to a garage. He put his reader on it and got no codes. He cleared the light, but before I drove off his property it was back. Checked again, no codes. Any thoughts. 1999 Cherokee I6 Automatic. RSWiser

I swore I was not going to dump anymore money into my heep but I can't help myself.
Is there a direct axle swap for the front stock dana 30 axle? If so, what kind of axle, dana 44?
If it (donor axle) has to be modified, what all is involved?

Everything else is fabrication to put new everything suspension-related mounts on.
