So the answer will be on the 6th result page? Does Google even do that still?

Is it possible to put in the dash; radio, heat, everything and the steering wheel from an older Cherokee ('87-'96) and possibly the steering wheel from a '87-'93 Cherokee into a newer one ('97-'01) ?

All of the everything? Sort of... the body is the same so the entire interior will fit! Practically there are significant differences between the OBD-II XJs and earlier models, including but not limited to extensive use of the CCD bus, cable driven speedo, and so on. You'd have the best chance of success with a '96 that might have compatible components. Usually when people do a swap like that they install a new PCM and wiring harnesses

Don't forget the airbag. It's illegal to remove a functioning airbag from a registered vehicle, and the computer will always show a fault if you disconnect it. Just throwing that out there FYI.

Interesting and valid point. That would be considered critical safety equipment. I guess '96 is your only valid donor lol

Hold on, stop. Before you go ahead and do something dumb (???) like that... I'll trade you my 96.
