So, normally, when I turn the ignition to the "on" position there will be a sequence of a few chimes along with the dash gauges coming on etc. I take this to be normal because it has done it forever, but I've recently noticed that it is now intermittent (Will chime sometimes and not others). I turn the ignition to the "on" position and the dash will do its normal thing but the chimes are gone.
I'm just curious as to why this is...
(Also, this is all before I actually start the Jeep)

is it worth getting all the under rust problems fixed on my jeep? or should i let it rust out. I plan to keep my 96 xj as long as possible, so is it worth it? and does anyone know how much it would approximately cost?

I think I understand what you're asking now... lol
I'm very biased against the '96 because a bunch of parts are unique, but in XJs in general the weak spot is the body/uniframe. The drivetrain will last a zillion years, and most replacement parts are cheap and plentiful. Unless you totally kill your engine and don't have the means to repair or replace it without spending $5k, basically your Jeep's limiting factor in life is the body & uniframe.

Of course there is. Do everything you can to prevent rust and fix it when it comes up and it'll basically last forever. Mind you in 20 years XJ parts may be a little harder to come by, but the drivetrain will hit 300k miles without even batting an eye if you take care of it.

I need some MPG upgrades, this 14 mpg is killing my wallet driving to and from college. So should I go with a bored throttle body first or 2.5" exhaust first? I've already got 784 injectors and a cowl intake. Also where can I relocate the IAT sensor to get better mpg?
