Okay going to drop my oil pan this spring week and replace my long overdue bad oil pan gasket. Need some opinions on the rms, should I go ahead and replace the rear main seal or should I go with the old saying if it anit broke dont fix it? It isnt leaking from what I can tell. I removed the inspection cover from the bell housing and found no oil in the bellhousing. Thanks

If you mean the outer shielding is braided stainless steel then yes.

Well I was hoping you said no. That wire is definitely picking up noise from someone under there. Do you check the run of the wire?

Askinforit, So your ground wire is braided coax? Or your antenna cable is Coax? Just a little confused here, your antenna should be coax. But I would definitely try the noise suppressor sycoglitch posted

The coax I'm using for the antenna has a braided stainless steel outer cover. Ultimately I think I just need to find the prefect route for the power and ground wire with combination of good wire. I have some 12 gauge wire with access to plenty so that isn't an issue. It seems that no matter what path I want to take there is always some other wires in the way. I want to find a path that's completely clear of any other wiring.

Rgr, you should use coax for the antenna cable.

Ok I changed my set up a little this morning.

I used 14 gauge for power and 12 gauge for ground then twisted them together. They run behind the center console then under the carpet behind the pedals through the good latch cable grommet. In the engine compartment I covered the twisted wires in convoluted tubing and ran both power and ground to the battery. The engine noise is decreased but I'm still getting some static. Next thing I guess is an swr meter and tune the antenna. I also swapped the stainless braided coax for a standard rubber coated coax for the antenna. The cable is 10' with no slack, I used every inch of the coax

Very good, how do you have your antenna mounted exactly? Window mount, magnetic, bolted on?

Antenna is mounted via a bracket made by a forum member. Ive also got a secondary ground wire between the two mounting bolts. My volt meter reads 0.6 on the ohm setting between the bracket and the body and also same reading between the two bolts. Bracket is on passenger side tail light.

Dont know all of your questions, but the 01 cherokee wheels will fit...and im almost positive the stock backspacing is 5.5.

thanks!
I was kinda hoping mine had a "special" name, but after your answer I am glad it doesn't!

rgr, sounds like a decent set up. Have you looked into the in-line noise suppresor?
