Only way to fix whatever it is is to cut out the **** and solder in new wires. No buttsplices. Don't forget the heatshrink.

Looks sort of like where someone spliced in a trailing light harness. Am I close?
What's wrong with butt splicing? Aside from the "centipede" issue.

I've never had a problem with them, I always seal them up with liquid electric tape when I'm done.

Not sure what the "centipede" issue is.

Most people don't seal them properly, they're particularly vulnerable to corrosion.

Is the main issue with anything other than solder or shrink tubing. Gets corroded in a few weeks and causes issues

Yep. If you put some of that shrink wrap tubing around it, you're golden. My dad uses "monkey ****", which is almost like a putty or a clay. I'm not sure, but that could be like your liquid electrical tape. (Haven't ever heard of it before.)

XJ Ask the Question Thread-forumrunner_20140408_164824.jpg

Alright guys, here's my oil slinger for the front crank. And behind it is my engine I just assembled....
I forgot to put that in there, is it needed for timing chain lubrication or anything? Just want to know if I need to put it back in.
Heard it isn't needed I'm just checking

It's there to sling oil away from the front seal.

Troubleshooting an evap leak right now, its been traced to the filler neck area. Took the filler neck off and pulled down the large filler tube to clean the top of it.. and this fell out. Brass fitting of some sort. Question is, should this be in there? What is it? If not (which I suspect) how the hell does someone get it in there? And why?

Would it be in the engine if it wasn't nessecary? Best to err on the side of caution, in my book.

It has a barb fitting for an airline on one side, I'm thinking it may have been related to the smoke test I had done yesterday.. The little flappy thing to keep debris out of the filler is broken, pretty sure it wasn't before.. I'm gonna bring the shop their part back and see what they say lol.

What is the best cam to use to build the 4.6L stroker? A stock cam, HESCO cam or a CompCam?

How many miles to a 20 gallon tank is everyone getting? I'm getting about 280 to a tank. Just want to compare with others
