..is there a condenser(capacitor) built-in on that model cb? if not, have you added one to your power lead coming off the back of your alternator? it's not really a noise filter of any sort, but it absorbs the abundance of electrical charge built-up by your alternator.
i fought this same problem in a radio, in an old nissan pick-up of mine. ultimately, it turns out that i had a weak ground, which had actually fried part of my wire harness coming from the back of my alternator, after installing a more powerful starter. i found it had fried my condenser. a more powerful, new 12V one was like $3 at radio shack, and i just spliced it in-line on the back of my alternator.. solved my problem.

not sure. but, i have a 2000.. want to take some measurements and/or pictures or something, and i could compare? i've had my console out for about 2 weeks, trying to resolve a different problem ..not that i'm looking to sell it. i've just become VERY familiar with the removal/installation process, recently. hahaha

Ground loop sounds promising. If you Wikipedia ground loop you will see that the ground loop noise is caused by grounds that are not at the same potential. This might stem from you having the antenna grounded to the chassis and the head unit grounded to the battery? Now that I think about it in all of my radio installs I never ran ground back to the battery, I usually just grounded everything to the chassis. Just a thought.

Two questions.
What do you guys use to clean your interior of mud? Including carpet.
My wheel started sounding much louder a few weeks ago and I don't know why. Is it just my tire starting to wear in and is louder ( they are Khumos with almost 3000 miles on them) or is it something a little more serious. It seems to drive normal. Maybe the occasional vibration that is minuscule. It kind of sounds like a loud hi-pitched humming.

I'll look in to the alternator and sere what's going on. Today I bought and tried a cb noise filter purchase at a truck stop. Pic below. This thing is junk it did absolutely nothing. However I did manage to lower my swr by purchasing a Wilson 5/8 wave 1000 watt 5' antenna and I'm very pleased the results.

I have a weird question. A little bit ago when I swaped my engine (blown) for a new to me motor I did the oil adapter elimination. I used a Fram PH 3614 (fits great in that location). I'll be doing a oil change soon (when the new to me engine hits 500 miles). I was wanting to get one of those oil filters that has a nut (hex...what ever in my be called) on the end to help with removal, I have no idea what brand it may be. Does any one know what I'm talking about and if you do, do you know what would be a good replacement for the one I have now?
