Oil filter adapter. Get the O-ring kit from the stealership, and figure out if you have the Torx T-60 or the 14mm (9/16") Allen key bolt. I have the 14mm hex on mine, and I used a coupling (extra long nut) with a 14mm outer diameter. I put a socket on that, and used a breaker bar. Easy peasy.

O-ring kit. There are three on the OFA, and the dealer charges a reasonable price (for once) for the kit.

That's where I buy them.
The early ones, with the bolt head use individual o-rings.
33002970, 33002971, 33002972, at the dealer for under $10.

Hey guys, I have a 99 XJ Sport 4.0 auto NP231
It's not lifted...yet lol
I am having some steering trouble. It seems very loose as I try to keep it in the lane on the main roads, but especially on the freeway. When I am sitting still, it has some play with a little bit of a knocking sound when I mess with the steering wheel.
Also, on the freeway when changing lanes, I start merging and then something seems to catch, and It pulls hard to the direction im going, but then I have to correct it before I go off the road.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am making a trip to Chicago from the metro Detroit area next weekend. It would be cool to have it fixed! (:

^ since you haven't play's around with lifts and such, I'd lean towards ball joints being bad or steering components worn out. Jack the front end up & pull tires forward / backwards, top bottom. If you have play that'll tell you where the issues are. I've got the same problems, even when it was 100% stock

Thanks man, umm I believe I was told I have a bad ball joint. I never did anything with it though, but I might get in there and tighten everything else up. Then I will get some new ball joints!

Also what kind of shops would install a polyurethane Master Bushing Kit. I'm a full time college student and I work, so I don't know if I'll have time. I think installing those will firm up my suspension a bit as well...

Would it be ok to shave one of the 2 forks on a distributor where it bolts into the block? It would still have the angled metal holder that goes on top of that part? Hope this makes since. Only ask since the mechanic can't get it in the exact spot for everything to align up. Maybe a tooth off from being golden
