Replaced receiver/dryer when the pressure valve blew out the bottom. Now I still have sort of similar issue as you. My levels are perfect, no leaks and almost everythongs new. The AC is 21*f on some days and 55*f on others. Its confusing the **** out of me. Im going to look into a new condenser and lines because mine was a R12 converted system with new compressor for R134a.
I am like you now, confused as to what is going on.

Another thing to look out for, the gap for the compressor clutch can be to big and cause the clutch to not engage when hot or to cycle repeatedly. To fix, the clutch is removed and a shim (washer) removed. There is a spec for this gap, forget what it is.

I keep searching with no results. I have greased most of the fittings on my 1991, with the exception of you universal joints. My flexible hose/fitting will not reach into the universal joint to fully seat the zerk fitting. I want to buy some "Extended" fittings off of ebay to replace the small ones so its easy to grease, but I am not sure if its 1/8 NPT. I bought some 1/8 NPT 90 degree fittings for the ball joints to make them easier.

Was the expansion valve replaced also? This is often where a blockage occurs.

My clutch is always engaged when the AC is turned on, it doesn not cycle. But I read in high temp areas like Phx, Az where I live that iys not uncommon for it not to cycle. The pressure switch on the dryer was also replaced.
