don't worry about it. All the newer tanks are plastic IIRC. Invest in a gas tank skid if you're really worried about it.

Default 2x4 to 4x4 mod?

Should I even consider trying to add transfer case to my 93 2x4? is it doable for the hobbyist, or should I just look for one that came factory 4x4 and play with it? Just wondering...

Doing the swap requires a lot of swapping / modification:

Swap List:
front axle (same gear ratio as your rear, or swap the rear end also)
front and rear drive shafts
transfer case and transmission
shift linkages
there may be more, just can't think of them

in other words, it's extensive and not for the faint of heart, and can get quite expensive. It's been bone before, but it's not easy in the least. If you were to do it the best thing would be to get a wrecked donor 4x4 xj and park it next to yours for a few weeks and swap everything.

My advice - find a 4x4, and drive that. It's not worth the time/$$$ to do the swap IMO.

X2!!!

Though I've never done it I can imagine it being a PITA, and the risk of causing more problems seems kind of high

Default aux fan temp sensor

I have an '89 4.0 with the cooling system swapped and the temp sensor for the aux fan was relocated to the end of the filler neck of the radiator, is this a good spot for the sensor?
and what are the values for testing this thing is it the same as the coolant temp sensor?

Default Few more questions

first off, for now i have a stock cooling fan,(may be a stupid question) when im out mudding and it gets hot is it better to just try to drive on the road to get airflow to cool it down or just shut it off for a bit?

second another possibly stupid one...i few friends say i need to get a staight axle for my xj...what exactly are they referring to a locked axle or a non scissor type axle?

third, where is the blower motor resistor?

and last, has anyone done or seen a write up on moving cpu/wires/electronics higher up? like up to the headliner?

I'm installing a 0 gauge amp power wire in my 92 Cherokee Laredo. Where does it go? Like in the firewall.

Default 1990 xj has rough steering when turning sharp to left or right

when i turn to the left or right i feel a jerking in the sheering wheel, it only does it when i turn really sharp to the left or right what can cause this and is it something to worry about, it does it worse in 4x4. ive had the jeep for over a year and it has done this since i bought it and i put 300 miles on the jeep every week and the problem hasnt goten any worse, or noticeably worse i should say

When in 4wd are you on dry land? Cause that's something you should never do that feeling is binding up under the car. As for te other jerk you feel it could be you power steering or tie rod. Go under and check your u joints tie rod, all that and make sure it has no play

Default Temp Gauge

A little warmer today. For the first time I saw my temp gauge over 210, If I had to guess I would say closer to 215 or 220. Is this something to worry about?? What temp do you guys run when its warmer??
