Hey everyone,

Any potential problems to removing the air dam below the bumper? I mean, does it really push that much air up in to the engine compartment or is it just there to look ugly?

Thanks!

That's not natural. Maybe check your motor mounts.

ok....you all are going to think I'm nuts, but here it goes....saturday, it rained buckets in my area, jeep was parked most of the day, i got in to go out and backing out of the driveway, i lost power steering, alt, and i thought ok it threw the belt...i pulled back in my driveway, parked and got in my truck....when i got home and it stopped raining i poped the hood, belt was in tact and nothing seemed out of place...i started the jeep, and it ran fine, and everything was dry....i later pulled the belt to check wear, and the pulleys...everything seems ok, i dont get any belt slipping, or anything....WTF...has anyone ever had any issues like this or am i crazy...

belt was likely just wet...don't worry about it.

I did some searching and had no luck. 2000 xj 4.0
There is a grinding noise, like a garbage disposal, coming from my engine. On the passenger side possibly around the a/c compressor or alternator. It's loud enough to hear when driving. The noise is there when the a/c is off, becomes louder under acceleration, and voltage gauge on the dash hasn't changed. Any help would be appreciated fellas.

dumb question but is the clutch working in the ac compressor? depending on how they fail (explode vs go quietly into the night) they can make a lot of noise.

look at the pulley see if there are any is any bits pokeing out of it or small black/gray things about that look like they came from a ring justles than the diameter of the pulley sometimes they are small shards and sometimes they are long twisted and stringy.

start the rig and look at the ac compressor pulley, if the center is spinning the clutch has probably shattered and pieces are likely locking the pulley together.

If the center is not spinning turn the ac on full bore and watch the pulley within a min or so (usually seconds but it depends on ac charge and temperatures) the center should start spinning with the outside of the pulley and stop again (the amount of time it runs varies with cooling demand so it may be seconds or minutes.

Start the rig w/o the belt and see if the noise goes away. If it does use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope and find out which accessory is noisey.

Default seat swap

I'm sure this question has already been asked but how complicated would it be to swap jeep grand cherokee seats into an 88 jeep. I know the grands have electrical seats and thats not a problem, the problem is wether i can just put the seats right on the rails i already have or if i have to swap rails and maybe do some fab. work.

Can't remember for sure on the older models but my 2000 brackets bolted right to the GC seats.
