Wrong answer. You need to check the temp of the sensor independently with an IR thermometer, then check resistance on the sensor to see if it is what it should be. What are you trying to accomplish here?

You can if you like, the identations add rigidity to the otherwise flimsy sheet metal. Depends on what you use as a replacement.

That's the entire point of the reservoir...? I don't follow...

on the 96 XJ, is the aux fan supposed to come on when the a/c is switched on? My a/c system is now empty.

I pulled the coolant temp sensor and the fan cuts on just not any other situation. Engine only goes up to 210-215 according to gauge on dash.

By that you mean, when I switch the ac on the fan is supposed to come on? Even without the ac compressor clutch engaging?

Went to dealership for ac fix and they said they bypassed the thermistor. Pulled dash apart and no wires anywhere looked tapped, nor under the hood. Just trying to narrow down where to look, every chance I get I'm peeking around. Either its a bad compressor or relay I'm dealing with.

Yes to the first part. As for the second part I don't know for certain but I would think it's possible. There is some way to make the a/c compressor come on even if empty but I'm not sure how.

thanks for the help. I know I ask for a lot. I'm googling too though. just gotta work on my search criteria, I tend to use a scope too narrow. I think it is because I am not a mechanic and do not know the proper vocabulary and/or skills. Frustrating because I am focusing on the wrong things as opposed to the fix.

I don't think 96 uses an orifice tube.

Oh. This thread is not good for ongoing assistance, just for one-off questions.

Sounds like the sending unit works fine. Was that taken off the one in the thermostat housing (PCM ECT sensor) or the one at the back of the head?

That's the hose to the reservoir lol. What do you mean by it's bubbling? In what direction? Is there a hole in the hose or something?

Don't know about 1996 but on later models the aux fan operates at the same time as the clutch. No refrigerant = no pressure seen by the PCM = no compressor = no fan

Back of the head. I just need to know if its a fault with the wiring or gauge.
