I had one on my 91, and currently have some on my 99. I thinking makes them sound like you have holes in your exhaust. I honestly don't like it, it drones on the interstate and just sounds bad IMO.

Plus you need to use a couple 90° bend pieces of exhaust or something because there's no offset in a glass pack and it makes everything off center. Mine never lined up right with the hangers.

Jeep has been sitting for a few weeks. Cloud of white smoke on startup, and intermittent puffs of white smoke at idle. Bad tapping from bottom end. Has coolant; not sure if the level has dropped.

How ****ed am I?

That is exactly what I was worried about. Perfect. It sounds great idling and revving, but not at constant rpm's.

Change the oil first and how much gas is in the tank?

Meh. Check all fluid conditions and levels. Maybe all your crankcase filled with water.

White SMOKE or just STEAM? Steam dissipates immediately, smoke hangs in the air.

The switch was eliminated shortly after Renix and TCU set to run in power mode only.

1987 jeep xj. I have a brake interchange question. I'm looking to replace my pads and rotors when I do my ball joints. What years will fit my jeep? I notice their isn't too many options for my year, but somewhat newer years (91+) their are more options.

I believe it's tied to the wheel bearings. If later model D30 hubs interchange (should be a quick lookup on RockAuto), buy brake parts accordingly. I know there was some nonsense with casting types.

Measure the stud length as they protrude from the hub surface. This will give you whether it was an OE cast or composite setup. I think Renix was cast. You should be able to just use 99+ brake parts if thats the case.

Exactly guys.

That's why I wrote this:

Bypassing the Power/Comfort Switch on a Renix Jeep

Remove and unplug the switch. In the harness are 3 wires One has a stripe, one is tan, and the other black. Make a 4" jumper wire with a male spade at each end. Plug one end in the cavity for the tan wire and the other in the cavity for the striped wire and you'll be in permanent Power mode. Stuff the harness back in and reinstall the switch for looks.

If you happen to have a 91 or 92 XJ/MJ and it has the Power/Comfort switch, just jumper the Tan and Blue wires in the harness plug.

NEVER include the black wire when jumpering!!!

How do i get the plastic off around the steering column? Is there a way to remove the plastic and still drive the Jeep normally? (wanna paint it)

Also is there a way to remove the dash, like the WHOLE thing, but have the gauges still mounted in? Also for paint but still need it as a daily.
