XJ Ask the Question Thread
lights / horn
Alright so i've had this Cherokee for about 6 months now. And this has finally started to bother me, haha.
The overhead console that I have, none of the lights on it work. It's a 97 country, if that makes a difference.
Where would I get those bulbs?
Or if it's a wiring problem how would I know?
Also, The stock head lights feel kind of weak, which is a better replacement, do i wire it the same?
And lastly.. The stock horn.. Kinda sucks. I'm not sure if all xj's are like that but mine, is just childish. In some cases people can't even hear me honking at them. I'm not trying to get some train horn kind of thing. Just need a better horn which one has worked for you, and how would I do the wiring.
thanks

Heavy duty radiator is better.
I'm looking at radiators on rockauto and some of them list themselves as "heavy duty cooling" what does this mean? I am just looking at a 1 row OE replacement since I don't do anything crazy in it. I would do a heavier duty cooler if I had absolutely zero mods to make when I installed it.
How "get what you pay for" are these? I'm willing to spend more so I don't have to do it again in 2 years.

really high idle.
Ok I have researched for days. My 97 cherokee 4.0 4x4 is very upset. When I start it I have to do so with my foot on the gas. Or it won't start. And when started it idles in park and neutral like I'm pushing the gas pedal. When I put it in gear she idles down but not alot. I release the brake and get goin pretty good with out pressing the skinny pedal.Iv heard a few theorys. Witch have had me change the intake air control valve. Plugs n wires. I have heard the tps may be bad. But I changed that 6 months ago. Should I again? Anything will help!!!!

Any idea how to extract those bolts that hold the nose of the cherokee on, on the corners. There are two on each corner that hold the plastic nose section on by nuts. I broke all four bolts. I think its called the grille header panel. Also, I still havn't found out, how is the battery mounted in a '96 cherokee?

Looking for a wiring diagram (and possibly some explanation of it) for WJ 10 way power heated seats.
I will leave the heated part out, and from what I've found so far that is what the bulk of the wires are for. I just kind of need to find out which ones are power, ground and accessory power to get the power seat portion moving. The control unit for it is on the seat.
That's the wires I have coming out of the harness.
I'm going to try and use the WJ brackets on my XJ so I can have all the power functionality.

Googling some more. Could it really be as simple as red to 12v and black to a ground? Would/could the tay be on there already so seats don't drain the battery or do I need that? I'm an idiot when it comes to electrical.
