That's for the heated portion but it looks like they share some wires.

Anyone know if I would need to hook up the ignition wire? I read a couple posts (other sites) saying all I would need for the power movement portion is 12v and ground. I don't know if that's true though.

I know the AC compressor comes on and causes the rpms to rev while idling but, I noticed the 1-2 shift feels different when the AC is on versus off. Is that normal?

Is the wiring for power seats under the carpet even if I don't have them? (99 XJ)

I'm about to go try and finish these WJ seats and I was hoping to be able to tap power from where ever that harness exists, then add a fuse to the fuse panel for the power seats.

This is what my 96 looked like when I got it. The red wire runs in the loom, driver side down, under the carpet and is for the seat. Don't know if they are like this stock or if the PO did this.

So I can just stick a wire into a fuse slot like that? Lol. Didn't know that'd work. Should I run an inline fuse if I do that?

I could run to that panel on the drivers side and the one behind the kick panel on the passenger side. The grounds should be easy.

Assuming there isn't a harness under the carpet, which I'll be checking for.

Question about intermittent high idle.

Every so often my jeep starts idling at about 1000-1200rpm. It seems to only happen when the A/C is on (but I wouldn't know if it happens w/o the A/C on because it's 105 everyday). Also, it doesn't happen all the time. Probably about 1/3 of the time I'm in the Jeep.

I also have a bit of a rough start. If I just turn the key to start the Jeep it takes a few seconds to turn over, but if I let the fuel pump prime before turning the key, it will start much quicker.

I haven't caught fire yet, but an inline fuse might help. My XJ PO might have taken the inline out leaving it like that. I just hooked it up wondering what it would do and forgot about it once I could move the seat from all the way back.

You can but It's not advised, it's one thing to do that to trigger a relay but to pull power for an accessory is asking for trouble.
There is an accessory port on the fuse box that is switched power. Top left of above posted picture, marked 'ACC'. I use it to to trigger an auxiliary wiring harness that has it's own relay and 3 circuits

If your XJ was brought in for the TSB to relocate the air bag controller, there should be zero wiring under the carpet.

'97+ JB fuse panel is toootally different.

DieselD how much juice do the WJ seats draw? XJs don't have provisions for powered/heated seats. You'd probably be better off slapping a relay onto an existing RUN circuit and pulling from the battery.

I have no idea what they draw. I will Google that.

I'm definitely not using the heated portion. I'm using WJ bases so I'm losing most of the power movement. The only thing that will be drawing power is the motor for reclining the seat back and the lumbar support. Which visually the recline motor is a lot smaller than the ones on the seat frame. So I don't know what they would draw.

I definitely don't have an airbag control unit under my driver seat. So I guess the easy route is out of the question.
