Does the engine stay or go?
I am currently tearing down my 97 XJ to build a trail truck. It has 282,000 on it so i wasnt expecting much good news when i took the engine apart. To my surprise the block had been sleeved and the cylinders looked to be in great shape. So now i need to decide how to proceed. Any advice on how to better inspect the motor would be appreciated. I want to determine if its got some life left or if its time for a rebuild.

What is everyone's favorite CPS?
I bought a cheap one in May and it has failed already....
I don't want to buy another P.O.S. sensor that's just gonna die on me again.
which brand do you guys have the most luck with?

Today I replaced my thermostat with an OEM 195 Degree new one. Ran it for 30 minutes and burped the system. Never got over 206. Monday I do a trail ride and see if it is better.
Another question.
My Cherokee is a 99 I6 Automatic.
The build sheet on my jeep says the Transfer Case is "Command-Trac Part Time 4WD System". My shift lever says: 2H. 4H and 4L. When I shift into 4H the light says Part Time. Is this the NP242 Transfer Case.
Thanks,
RSWiser

if you want to double check there should be a tag on the back of the transfer case that says what it is and the ratio it has factory.

Either way, it's a 2.72:1 ratio unless someone swapped in a TJ Rubi 4:1 NP231.
Just throwing it all out there for the sake of information

With that shift pattern, it's a NP231. NP242s have three 4WD options. On top of that, Command-Trac is NP231. NP242 is Selec-Trac.

86 cherokee few questions
So I recently purchased an 86 Cherokee chief. Well today I noticed that when I put the turn signal on nothing happens. Where do I start with that? Also when I go to turn the jeep off its as if it wants to stay running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Neither turn signal does anything? No clicking sound, no flasher on the dash, and no lights outside? What about the 4-way hazards?
