Its funny you say that, I have a drawer in my box full of them. I wear them with anything I do on my vehicles. Never know wen a screaming youngin' is gonna come running up and I'd rather not wipe grease/oil all over them lol

I just swapped out my radiator from a 1989 xj for a 1993 xj. My old radiator didn't have a radiator cap on the actual radiator, it just had hoses going to the main reservoir. My new radiator also has a overflow hose piece. Do I have to find a way to attach the overflow hose to the main reservoir or can I just attach a hose from the overflow to drip under my jeep?
Any help would be great!! Thanks

No no no no no no no! Ethylene coolant is highly toxic and animals LOVE to drink it!

You need to fully convert from a closed to open cooling system. The Renix pressure bottle (with cap) is not compatible with the newer stuff. Grab a reservoir and hose for a 1993

Hoses* And look into the late model upgrade with no heater core. I don't remember of the cuff what's required.

For what it's worth, they've been adding bittering agents to coolant for years to dissuade consumption. Still not something I'd want to end up in my drinking water

No. Your old system is pressurized, or closed, and your new system is vented, or open. They operate differently, and you bought the wrong radiator. Your choices now are to swap rads again or convert to the open system. Most people recommend the latter because the closed style is very temperamental due to its age

I see in the service manual that Mercon and DEXRON II is called out for the auto trans in the '94 XJ. Can I use the latest, DEXRON VI ??

Some people use it without problems but a lot of people report slipping and other problems with the Dex VI in these autos. Just stick some good ole Dex/Merc III in it, that's the best stuff you can use.

Can I cut the fitting out, bend the brake line out to bubble flare it and go from there?

I kinda screw myself with having so many issues will the lift to begin with.

-Shackle bolt seized into the metal sleeve.
-Snapped multiple bolts.
-Shocks too short. One even locked halfway and isnt letting the jeep move.
-Couldnt get coils in with spacers.
-Couldnt get lca bolt back in.
-Damaged alignment bracket inside lower control arm mount on frame.


Just a chuster ****.

To top it all off my wife's out of town for 6 days and im left with 2 kids under 6yr old and have to have this complete back together by monday.

Ok looks like I'm gonna have to convert to an open system.uuuuuuuuuh. My old radiator got damaged and I had this extra one laying around thinking I could just swap them out. Oh well ,thanks

No problem. The good news is the project really isn't difficult. There's a lot of documentation out there if you search "renix open cooling"
