Ok, so I jacked up the front end. yanked on both wheels every which way. There is no play. Any other ideas as to why I am getting this humming?

A bad wheel bearing will not necessarily have play in it (actually, usually won't). The humming is from the bearings being dried out and wearing down. The hub/bearing unit needs to be replaced.

Oh ok, I heard from a search that the wheel will have a little play in it. Checked out the Timken, looked well rated. But can't find it locally. I'll be ordering it online tonight.
Thanks!

Beat me to it!(surprise,surprise.)
don't cut a hole through your ****ing floor....that's the crappiest solution i've ever heard
get a drift punch or even better an air chisel and hammer the captive nut till it breaks loose from the framerail. Then simply thread a new bolt from the top and bolt the shock back up.
