However in setting 4, it blows strong and cold. My brother and I have thus far diagnosed it as a problem in the switch, as everything seems to be functioning in the high setting, looking for some thoughts and opinions, thanks.
Sounds like you have a bad switch

Default 98 XJ 4.0 sounds like hell, shaky and has a knock... Compression tests say...

had 2 compression tests.....

1 shows zero compression in cyl #3 and 175 psi in the rest.

The other test shows no compression in both # 3 and #4 cyls, and 40 psi in cyl 6??

1st test was from a friend the second was from a garage...WTF??? How could they be so drastically different?

Guess this means I'm screwed....its gonna be valve train or gaskets....right?

I dont have much money, I need a solution here.

Does this sound right? When I am dirving at what the speedo tells me is 65pmh the engine is revving at ~2400rpm on 235/75 r15 with 3.55 gears
I know the stock tires are smaller but its not like I have 35"s

How much do 4 canyon wheels, stock wheels, typically go for? I have the chance to get some for 200. Should I go for them?

that isn't bad, but I have seen them go for less around $150, you could always haggle a bit

If you have a meter at home hook it up to one cylinder at a time and check them yourself. Crank it over 3 times each I think it is? Do it multiple times through all cylinders and see if you continue to get varying results. the shop or your friend could of made a mistake. Better to be safe then sorry.

Yeah that's what I think.... Because the guy at the shop seems almost happy about it and swore that if I fix one valve that I should fix them all.....for an extra fee of course

So the question is........ Does anyone know a shop/person to goto in snj?

Well I kinda agree with him, if its apart and you have to have any machine work done might as well make it new again. Now if money is tight then just fix what it needs but remember it might happen again, just my copper!

Default Clutch Problems

Hi, I'm new here, please bear with me.
The clutch suddenly stopped working. I depressed the pedal, started her up, car in reverse, slowly released clutch and the car shot back. Now I have no pressure on the clutch pedal.
The clutch Master cylinder is still full.
Can anyone suggest what to try to resolve this. I'm in France and can't get hold of workshop manuals here.

Default Testing fan relay socket. No Ground?

Electric fan not working. A/C Compressor not engaging.

Testing the sockets for the relays, doesn't appear to be a good ground when looking for "continuity" at #4.

Battery power is present at socket 1 of Fan Relay, jump 1 to 4 fan does not engage as suggested in test procedure. Reading the SCRIBD procedure, suggests to check ground at fender wall. Could an individual socket in the engine compartment relay block have a bad ground?
Sun is too damn hot to tinker right now. Will get back to it in a few.

Default High Wattage Headlamp Kit

Hey Dukie564! I received that headlamp kit which you recommended. Sorry I forgot to ask if it was made in USA but that's water under the bridge now. Ya got any pearls of wisdom to offer up (even the shoulda, coulda, woulda's are welcome) before I start cutting and splicing? NOTE: I haven't even looked at the layout or schematic yet.

Default Transfer Case Noise

I have a stock 2001 XJ with auto trans. There is a noise coming from the transfer case while in park. It sounds and feels like a loose tc chain. Can the transfer case be rotating while in park? I'm certain that the noise is coming from the transfer case... I just don't understand what's going on.
