First time XJ owner, and I have 2 problems
I just got a 2001 XJ (147k Miles) and I'm having just a few issues that I don't know how to fix/or if there is even a fix.
First is on occasion, I turn the engine on and I hear a very loud/high pitched whining sound from the engine, it goes away after about 30 seconds, or if I turn the engine off then back on again it usually goes away too. Is it the serpentine belt? is there an easy fix for this?
Second is, when I change into gear, any gear (park, reverse, neutral, drive), I get a very violent shake from the vehicle. Is this from the age of the transmission or is this normal? Is there anyway to decrease this?
It has the Inline 6, 4.0L. Stock trans.
Any help is appreciated

Ans for the tranny fluid, could I get a product name or link to the type I should get, or the kind you use?
Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.
I've got my memorial day all planned out to work on my Jeep now.

..depends what you're calling "that price" but, there are plenty of options in the $40-$50-$60 range.
i'm ordering some kickers after i get paid next week.. i've had them before. nice full-range, pretty deep bass for the money.. Have you changed your head unit, or are you keeping that stock?

Edit: my work van hard the tranny issue and it was leaking so it would be rough when changing gears

Need help loud binding noise when I turn right
Hey guys,
So I just finished putting a 4in lift on my 89 jeep, had a little trouble with some bolts and bushings but we finally finished it yesterday... so we thought... When I turn right it sounds like some thing is binding then releasing with a loud bang... I've heard it could be the track bar but I replaced with a adjustible one from rough country... could it be that the whole axle is out of wack?
Thanks for the help

PO changed the master cylinder but there still no brakes. Fluid was low so I topped it off. When power is off I have resistance at the pedal, when I start the rig pedal will go to the floor with no resistance and the brakes don't work.
What should I do first?
