JP Magazine did a winch torture test a few years ago. You should be able to find it with a quick Google search. Based on that test and the reviews I've read, I'd buy an Engo or Warn winch

EDIT: Just realized those are bumper part numbers. I'd go with 3/16" steel and 1/4" reinforcement plates. Besides that, it's mostly cosmetic

Hey guys, when I bought my jeep, It was missing the inspection plate that covers the flex plate. will this hurt anything? Should I grab one from the junk yard? My jeep is my DD and I go muddin get and trail riding on the weekends. I just pulled this pic from another thread I was reading but this is what it looks like. Thanks

I don't mean to be rude, but I feel like this question should answer itself. Do you want mud getting in there?

What does it do when you turn the key to start it like normal?

Is it silent?
Is there one click?
Does it click very rapidly?

Assuming all your wires are connected, I'd start by either bypassing or replacing the starter solenoid on the passenger side fender

Did you try starting it in Neutral instead of Drive?

I've done ALOT of mudding and it hasn't hurt anything yet. Lol. I just wasn't sure. Figured it didn't mattered being that a the inspection plate doesn't seal the bell housing but just covered it. But thanks! I'll grab one next time I'm at the junk yard.
