think my electric rad fan crapped out on me. engine heat been creeping up while sitting in traffic and it wont come on at all while i idle in my driveway. turned the fan clutch by hand without the motor on and it has some solid resistance so i dont think its that. best guess is the electric fan?

If your fan clutch is original, I'd replace it no matter what. If you don't have a fan shroud, installing one will help significantly. If your cooling system as a while is original, it would probably benefit greatly from an overhaul. Even the hoses wear out over time

If the clutch fan is working properly, and the radiator isn't clogged, you don't even need the electric fan. Some XJs didn't come with one.

Best thing I ever did was overhaul the cooling system. New hoses, stat, radiator and coolant and she's happy. Fan clutch was already new at the time.
Only time temp goes past 210 mark is driving in bad traffic on sunny *** hot day. Other than that she's happy

I have "6 quarts of Rotella T6 15W40" written down for a 4.0L oil change. I assume that's supposed to say "5W40," though? Can anyone (salad?) confirm?

You're correct with the 5W40. As far as I know the T6 doesn't come in a 15W40. The T3 is the one that comes in 15W40
