There is a great write-up on making sure your part time light works, you should check it out! As far as your steering issue, Im not really sure. Maybe check your power steering fluid level? If not equipt then Im not sure.[/QUOTE]

Yea, the pwr steering fluid level is good. Checking out that write up now! Thanks.
I think I've got some more testing to do. I wonder if while coasting, not in gear, and turning if that would isolate the powertrain from steering componets and maybe help narrow down the problem with wheel hop. I'll report back!
Thanks again.

When you were gleeing things together did you smack your ballast resistor? What you are describing sounds like you may have shorted it out or knocked a connector loose.

What problem you having with your wheel cause I'm having the same issue. As I'm turning my wheel hops and barely comes back and I filled my fluid up but no fix. I really don't wanna have to replace the pump .

J.e.e.p- just empty every pocket

Default dumb question

I have an 01 cherokee with the NP231 t-case and AW4 transmission. Under hard acceleration, there is a very definitive vibration through first gear and partially into second gear. While trying to diagnose this issue I have noticed that my front drive shaft does not spin freely no matter what gear the t-case is in. Is this normal ?

the front driveshaft will spin when you go into 4wd. Do you feel any vibration under normal acceleration. Do you notice what your rpms go up too. Your tranny mounts might be bad

no vibration under normal acceleration. so when the t-case is in 2wd and all 4 tires on the ground I should NOT be able to spin the front driveshaft ? As far as the vibration goes, at the risk of sounding stupid, it has a circular pattern to it. meanieng its like, vibe, no vibe, vibe ... so on and so on until it just stops. RMPS tend to be right around 3500 to 4000 roughly.
