Hey guys, so I'm planning on doing a 4bt cummins swap sometime in he future in my 93 XJ. So right now I've been doin some research. I was planning on doing a Dana 60 front and rear. Maybe Dana 44 up front. But anyways, is there A specific year,truck Dana 60 that i should look for, or will any one work. I found a guy selling the front and rear Dana 60s out of a ram 2500 for $100. He didn't say what year ram. But anyways, is there a specific Dana 60? I want one that would be around the same width as the standard XJ axles.

no Dana 60 is ever the same stock width as XJ. Most people look for ford 60 because it's a high pinion

alright, what about year, anything dana 44 and up I know very little about.

ford Dana 44 and 60 is very desirable. They are full width.

None of them is bolt in. U ll need to weld brackets on it.

Wagoneer Dana 44 front is ideal swap if u want to keep stock width but u need to change your rims on account of different bolt pattern.

are their any Dana 60s that are not full width or will I need to shorten. I can weld so that's not a problem. Also, I got a 700r4 tranny but I'm thinkin maybe I should do a th400 instead, what do y'all think?

no Dana 60 that I can think of is narrow width. Shortening a 60 can be real expensive because of custom shafts, etc.

If u are really adamant on keeping the stock width, doing a waggy 44 or shortening a ford HP44 to a waggy width is your best best

I guess I can just do full width. From what I've read, the 4bt in an XJ gets around 30mpg. So it's gonna be my daily driver. What's the difference in the ford vs ram 60s? Is ram low pinion?

Either an Isuzu 44 rear/Wagoneer 44 front for matching bolt pattern

Or

GM 14 bolt "Cab & Chassis" rear/other D44/60 front

The C&C 14 bolt rear is slightly wider than stock

Can I spray out my 727 auto trans with Brakleen, or will that harm internals?

The Rodeo/Passport D44 has disc brakes and up to 4.56 gears

I'll be going down in gearing since it's a 4bt.

You'll probably have to regear either one since they're on opposite ends of the spectrum. My J10 has 2.XX gears. But it depends on which trans and what tire size you use
