Good call Cruiser, it definitely sounds like it could be a booster issue. Rod adjustment, check valve or plugged release valve. Appears it is slowly building up vacuum beyond what is needed.
Like you suggest...If the rod is not allowing it to come all the way back the release valve wouldn't work as it should

Opinions on the Lucas transmission stuff to stop slipping?
I'm not a fan of additives in general, but my YJ's 32RH is slipping, and I can't afford a rebuild at the moment

Never used it. I'm open to anything that would help, but I said Lucas because some was offered to me
Nope, but my fluid is burning, and I can hear it grind. I've never done anything to the trans and didn't ever have a problem before a few weeks ago
Sorry, four vehicles...

new to jeep world starting with a well worn 1990 xj .. to the point I need a little help with transfer case shift problem ..first this is automatic.. 4x4 shift patern is 2h-4h-n-4L doe's this tx case use a vacuum motor to assist shift to 4L as mine will shift from 2h to4h . but will not go to neutral or4L .

If that motor fails (usually a vacuum leak), you won't get power to the front axle. It wouldn't stop the shifter from moving, though

Wish I had experience, but… LSD's won't fully lock so you get better road manners than true lockers. The front won't matter on road unless 4wd is engaged, IIRC, but in snow/ice on the street there can be issues turning with a locker, so one imagines there will be similar issues with a LSD? Clutch plates wear out in an LSD turning them into more of an open diff. Wish i had better info for ya..
