Even a locker shouldn't effect a 242 in full time. The viscous coupler allows the front to behave like its open until it slips. Again, this is pure speculation on my behalf, so take it with a grain of salt! You have access to LSD's for cheap or something?

Not if you install a Detroit TrueTrac. Helical gears, no clutch packs, no wear parts. Lifetime warranty.

I haven't put much time on mine yet, but I'm satisfied. My first trip out since I installed the new axles in the YJ, I didn't have any problems on any obstacle. The entire day was spent on blacks and reds, but I do have 37s.

The only time I have an issue is when I try to take a poser picture. It acts as an open diff when no tires are spinning, and that's an issue if I'm in a situation such as pulling up on a large rock. That tire won't try to crawl up unless I make the other tire spin first. With a D30 front, I certainly don't want that added stress with 37s on a surface with traction. With a true locker, both tires would be trying to walk instead of one simply being pushed into the rock.

All that said, I feel the tradeoffs of auto-lockers make them implausible for a vehicle I daily drive in a winter climate. Limited slip can have similar issues, but I find it more predictable.

In the end, I'm happy with my LSD in both axles. It will suffice until my next overhaul with selectable lockers.

by the way 242 doesn't have viscous clutch, it's a mechanical clutch

I'm not a fan of additives in general, but my YJ's 32RH is slipping, and I can't afford a rebuild at the moment
Run Dexron. That'll stop the slips.

(Not really serious. Although it may just work! Manuel warns against clutch chatter because Dex isn't slippery enough)

Default Dorman HELP!!

I was looking around the auto parts store my buddy works at killing some time and I found what looks to be a direct replacement for the turn signal switch for my 90' Cherokee. Problem is according to both the store computer and dorman's' website it doesn't fit a Cherokee.
Anyone else think this might work or has tried it before? The main reason I didn't get it is 1. it was like $40 and 2. no return

Go to Walmart and buy a quart of "Motorkote", it's in a black bottle. It's not a sper of the moment fix, but you will notice a big difference. I use it through out my whole XJ

Isn't Motorkote a friction REDUCING additive?
