91 Jeep Triangle Vents
on my jeep the driver side triangle vent has too much space between the little latch and the window so it whistles really loud, right now i have a nickle wedged between it and that works pretty well except a pain when i want to open and close the vent. I thought maybe i would glue one of those chair "feet" pads to either the latch itself or where it goes when it locks. Any thoughts/ideas?

Ok. I've got gunky oil (it's gotta be, right) all around my valve cover, down the side of the block, and a few little drips around the oil pan and trans pan.
none of it smells or looks like atf, but i'll be damned if it wasn't a bit low. engine oil wasn't, but that's what it looks like. power steering was a bit low.
valve cover gasket gone? something else? i don't know, i'm just getting tired of the mess, and the drips (not quick by any means)
approaching 200K miles.

second, separate question.
How often does the serpentine belt need to be changed? We had it done just a few years ago, maybe 30K miles, but it's starting to look a little ragged.
Here's a picture of it.
on a side note:
I've decided, just a few days ago, that the list of things that have been neglected over the past several years is piling up too high, and so it is going to take center stage in my garage so I can fix it up properly. I feel terrible, but the thing is a beast, and it's 2500 miles away from 200K.

Ok. Today I'm going to take me valve head cover off, clean up some peices of the cap for the rear ccv orifice that have fallen in, replace the gasket, and pt it all back together and replace the rear ccv orifice. Here's the plan of attack. Take it off semi- evenly. Scrape off the old gasket, clean out the valve head cover like i need to, Thin layer of RTV on either side of the gasket, place it, do the zig zag bolt tightening routine, (the one Chiltons/Haynes manual said to) than put the new CCV part back on. any other tips before i do this today? i will be doing it about 4 or so...so get the advice in soon as you can... This is the first time i've done it. Thanks guys

Aux Radiator Cooling Fan Not Working
Like the title says... the Aux Radiator Cooling Fan isn't working. Just to ensure we're all talking about the same part, it's the electric fan located on the right side of the vehicle behind the radiator.
I'm aware this fan should engage in case the engine temperature reaches a certain point -- something like 215º -- or whenever I turn on the AC. Anyhow, the bottom line is that it doesn't. I turn on the Jeep, switch the AC to Max, and the fan won't run. The AC was charged about 5 days ago, and the air blown into the cabin is cool, so the AC works and I don't believe it to be a low-pressure issue.
To troubleshoot, I checked all the fuses, which were fine. Then I checked the fan motor by connecting it directly to a 12V battery. It spun up without hesitation. Finally, I replaced the cooling fan relay, located in the Power Distribution Box on the left side of the engine compartment. After starting the car and turning on the AC, the fan still won't start. I even tried nudging it to see if it would start spinning, but to no luck.
So, AC is good, fuses are good, fan motor is good, and relay is good, but the fan still won't start.
Any thoughts?
The above issue is on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

I haven't seen any issues with overall engine temperature -- when it gets up to 208º it remains stable. Wouldn't a faulty thermostat cause the engine to overheat in general? Besides, shouldn't the fan work when the AC is engaged regardless of engine temperature?
