x2 except if it was me I would go in and do the fan clutch, water pump, all hoses, radiator, thermostat and everything cooling system. It can never hurt and it isn't that expensive.

if he tow that boat everywhere on 32's with stock gears, it's strongly urged to regear the axles

So I have a 98 XJ sport 4x4 4.0 automatic with a 3" zone lift and 32" tires. I have a 19 bayliner that I use as my mobile glass blowing art studio. My plan is to travel semi long distances around the country pulling this trailer. I have been driving around Florida, I've done 2 round trip runs from south to north. On one of those trips I had lots of overheating issues. I don't know the weight it was then but I have changed things around and just had it weight finally. It weighs 3,490lbs with a tounge weight at about 5-600. So 3,500 is basically my towing need. Is there anyway I don't have to sell the jeep for a pickup? What can I do to improve its capacity? Back to stock tire/wheel size?

Go with 245 75 16 tires, that way you get a e load rating and be tter mpg and 456 gears. Or lt 235 75 15 tires and 410 gear. Def a big Trans cooler and trailer brakes would be good. Smaller coil spacer on the front so it sits level or add a leaf in the rear. Wire the electric fan to go on with the ignition. Deep trans pan. And radial trailer tires help with mpg.

Towing help!!!
Thanks for the tips everyone! I still have my old set of original rims and stock size tires laying around, I just need to replace two of the tires. I also have a buyer for the current 32's. If I go back to stock tires should I still regear? I've already changed my hoses and water pump with stock replacement, is there a HD pump I should look for instead? New radiator and trans cooler will be next. The larger v8 clutch fan, easy job? Seams like just remove the few bolts and direct swap yeah? Lots of questions! Thank you for all the help and any answers you may have. I really do not want to get rid of my jeep, i love it so much. I really want it to be the vehicle I need!

I used to to a trailer all over the state, had full gauges, 1 ton truck. With no external cooler transmision runs about 20+ degrees over coolant temp.

He is in Florida and so am I, Gods waiting room. You can cook on the pavement here most of the year. My jeeps get to temp in 2 blocks of driving. Fan comes on at 224 degrees or later depending on how much insulation has built up on the sensor. I used to to a trailer all over the state, had full gauges, 1 ton truck. I just installed my SYE, and in order to install the degree shims I need to drill out my center pin holes to 3/8ths. Any recommendations on how to do this the most efficient way? I prefer not to remove the leaf springs if I don't need to.
