Thanks to SteveMongr, Cruiser54, NewKindofClown, RCGuyMike, Salad and any others I missed.
Replaced fan relay and electric aux fan began working properly. As a result, i am no longer overheating at idle or low speeds. Problem solved. I am also going to proceed with replacing the fan clutch with the HD model as it seems like a worthwhile upgrade.
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to help out this total newbie.
Slowly but surely I learning how to properly maintain this Jeep I love.

I read that there may be approximately .5 mpg loss running the ZJ clutch. I think stevemongr was the one who mentioned that. Could be a factor also

New issue. Need some help asap as I need to get to work on Tuesday and don't have other transportation. The throttle valve cable has been getting frayed and it wont fully recede into the plastic bit. Jeep is acting crazy, check engine light came on, jeep is jumping and sputtering. dont know what to do. They just crushed all the XJs at my local yard. Can I pull a cable from an old ZJ I6?
Unsure if related but i just finished replacing the trans filter and filling it with new fluid.

Would one of these fix it?
Any help would be very appreciated.

Joecam:
A temporary solution.
Disconnect it from the throttle body. Pull the cable out as far as you can and fasten it to something. Your shifts will be harder is all.

Ill go check. Was trying to check the engine code but i couldnt get it to throw. Ill go try again and check the tranny fluid
EDIT: tried again. the odometer will go up through its numbers (1111, 2222, 3333 etc) but then itll just show my milage and no code
EDIT 2: checked the tranny fluid with the car off since i dont want to turn it on. at the add level.
When i do turn the engine over, the jeep has like the roughest idle ever and the whole engine shakes and sounds like its about to kill out if i leave it on any longer

The only number I can see is 2.5, and thats when i go to start the key sequence. Ill hold the trip button down, and when i turn the key only to the first click, 2.5 shows up, even before i start the sequence
