Hey all. Bogging down is the issue. Went to pop the hood when I took her for a test drive after replacing the radiator, hoses + cap,t-stat,water pump, and clutch fan. Air was coming from/into this blue brake booster check valve, exactly where the split is shown. Is this normal? I never noticed it before or had a problem with it. When I touched it to turn it, to see if the leak will stop, the rubber seal turns with it. Could this be the cause of the bogging down issue? Needs replacing? Thanks in advance.
OK,I solved my interior lights not working, but now I have 2 more semi related questions:
1, what the hell is a passing light?
2, in the rear hatch of my 96 se, I have a black button on the light. that button will not depress or do anything, so I was wondering if it was supposed to, and if there was a simple fix for it? I tried taking the light out and looking at it but after getting the rings off, I couldnt get the weird black plastic piece off the drivers side and ended up reassembling it.
Just wanted to update y'all with my XJ. Earlier I said it wouldn't start and I had 3 or 4 codes showing by the turn key method. Check light went off and the code reader didn't read anything when I got to advanced auto. It had been running cold so I figured the thermostat was stuck open. Friday night I went ahead and replaced it and cleaned up the temperature sending unit while I was at it. Made a 2.5 hour trip Saturday morning then back 2.5 last night. Temperature was around 210 the whole time, ran great. Hopefully that fixed my problem, but wanted to give an update and say thanks again to everyone who commented and helped solved the problem.
And thanks a lot I'll check that video out I'm hoping to do it over thanksgiving break only other question I got right now is that my heat is blowing lukewarm air. If I turn it on sometimes it'll blow warm for a few seconds if it's on full blast then it'll just go cold again. I can't find any kinda coolant leaks so I really don't know what it could be
2 things...
#1 - are you running a thermostat in your Jeep? You should have a 195* thermostat in there to run at proper operating temps... AND make the heater work correctly. The thermostat keeps the fluid distributed evenly across the system.
#2 - if the correct thermostat is in place, check the blend door inside the heater box... it's possible it's out of adjustment or broken.

Meh.. if you don't use it I could see deleting it, but don't take it out simply for access. My AC lines and everything have been in place since before I bought it.... I've changed both motor mounts, the alternator, relocated the coil, and have had the distributor in and out more times than I can count. You may just be able to find some lines that route it more out of the way if you really need to.

Awesome I'll be checking both of those this weekend. I'm also gonna be doing my first oil change in this jeep as I like to do that ASAP after buying a used vehicle just so I can keep tabs on it. I know there's a thousand threads on here about what oil to use but does anyone have any suggestions? It's got 148K miles on it and I'll be running a K&N oil filter. Thanks a lot!
I need to know what part the hose in this picture is, so I can replace it. I assume it has something to do with my 4WD because of its location (front driver's side by the axle). Any help would be appreciated.

That's a vent for the differential, to allow it to breathe. You can replace it with any hose of the same internal diameter. Vacuum line is a good fit. As long as it's a dry day out, you can remove a piece and take it into the parts store with you.
