2000 XJ does not have good hot heat.

I noticed the temperature guage is not getting up to 210. it only gets up to about 120.

The blower motor was out and i had that replace along with a radiator flush and fill.

It does push warm air but think it should be warmer.

Any thoughts?

1) Check the thermostat housing with an IR temp gun. 120 is crazy low unless your thermostats is stuck open in a polar region. I suspect your sending unit our gauge may be faulty.

2) Did you turn on the defrost when you flushed the radiator, so that it would also flush the heater core?

3) How long ago did you do the flush? If it was only a day or two ago, it's possible there's still air trapped in the system.

The blower speed control switch (and the connector/wiring at the switch) also tends to burn out - check there. It'll be obvious if it's burnt there.

I had a garage do it and it was just a couple days a ago.

It is cold out, 15 degrees. I'll try the infra-red temp gun and see what temp I am really at. I know the temp gauge worked in summer as it ran at 210 all summer.

Something is not right.. Do like Cloone said check with IR-temp gun. Gauge might be off. My 2000 sits around 209 no matter what temp it is outside..This morning it was 8F,, The jeep was putting out some great heat.

Might need to backflush the heater core, too if it wasn't part of your flushing process. Should be walkthroughs/youtube vids on that.

Default Transmission Neutral Park Starter interlock

I have a 87 XJ with intermittent starting problems. Sometimes it won't start in park but needs to be in neutral. I know there is an interlock switch but where is it located? Does it just need adjustment or cleaning?

There should be walkthroughs and videos how to remove, clean and reinstall. Mine was a bear to remove and I actually had to destroy it to get it off, I bought a new one through these guys: http://www.ebay.com/itm/310682388721

They will honor their warranty too, the first one I got went bad about a year after I got it and they replaced it free of charge. You keep your warranty if you mail back the defective one too. 10 years free replacement works for me. Really beats paying $200+ for a mopar one!

It's called the Neural Safety Switch, by the way

Verified the Jeep is not getting up to temperature. Haven't tried backflushing the heater core yet.

Do you think I should replace the termostat or backflush the heater core first?

If it isn't getting up to operating temp, your thermostat isn't closing. Go ahead and spend a few extra dollars for the 195° stat at the dealership. They have better reliability than aftermarket ones, and the price isn't much different.

Pretty sure (not positive, but pretty sure) that my steering box is going bad. It's a daily with 31s so not some super huge monster. Should I go with another stock box or something else?

IIRC certain Durango, S10 and ZJ boxes are drop in, are similar priced new and give a better ratio.

Why did my XJ turn off on the highway then turn back on? Momentarily felt like a weird shift, then noticed the tach at 0, then it fixed itself. Bad battery connections? They seem good. CPS?
