Maybe check with a real engineer, but I'm fairly sure that shape of intake system would Lower your Ft-Lbs of Torque, just based on flow characteristics.
Longer, faster intake = more torque (to a point) shorter can help Hp, but I don't think 3" wide - to < 2" immediately at throttle will help at all.

...but like I said - ask a real engineer.
- Maybe:
www.engineeringtoolbox.com / Fluid mechanics ... maybe pressure in tubing or flow characteristics - (air is Fluid)
I'm not looking for power or torque gains right now, for me it's just about versatility. Right now I'm stuck with the air hose only going one way and next to no aftermarket help, at least this way I'll have the option to do something else. I may do a bored TB from strokedjeep at some point for more power but not yet.

01 XJ. Only the front left door speaker works. I replaced the speaker wire to the speaker that was working. It didn't help and was a total Pain in the ***. The other speakers used to work. They would cut in and out when the door would open, then they finally stopped working all together. I can only find links online where this speaker isn't the one working. Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Try the "HELP!" section at Autozone, Advance Auto, etc. Pretty sure I've seen them there.

Quadratec sells kits, and as mentioned, JC Whitney. I think you can even do PepBoys.

It sounds like you've described your problem right there. Have you pulled back the rubber tube that the wires are in going from the body to the door? Sounds like there's a broken wire or a short. Check the connections coming into the door, exiting the body, and everything in that tube.

I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly which wires i should be looking for? As far as I can tell, the only wires that go through the door are for that particular speaker. What other wires that travel through the driver door pertain to speakers? All the other functions on my door panel work fine.

Suddenly I'm having problems the left turn signal on my '99 XJ. What's happening is that when you first pull the stalk down it works - but when it's pulled all the way and snaps into place the signal stops. Sometimes finagling around with the stalk I can get it to temporarily work. Right turn signal, emergency flashers, and high beams work OK.

Seems like it is probably an internal failure in the stalk itself. It shows as in stock at a local Autozone store for about $37. (It's cheaper online, but it's a rare-for-February 60 degree day today with a snowstorm on the way tomorrow - would like to get this done today if possible.)
I've been searching for R&R instructions on this but have not found the procedure. I guess you have to remove the plastic housing behind the steering wheel. I found this video for doing the job on a TJ which looks like a pretty similar setup:

Any other details specific to the XJ to be aware of?

What is this?? Bought a 92 last weekend, still learning a lot about it. I'll be in this thread a lot, I'm sure. But first and foremost, what is this? Lives under the steering wheel.

Thanks

Looks like one of those rental car immobilizers. Take the "chip" out and the car won't run. You should be able to bypass the wiring fairly easily if you loose the "chip".

I got the new turn signal switch installed and it fixed the problem. This is an easy job, once you take a look it's pretty obvious how to proceed. The only slightly hard part is that there's not a lot of room to remove and reinstall the switch. You just have to finagle it and get the angle right. Hopefully the Autozone Duracrap part will last OK. It does have a lifetime warranty, but even though this is not a tough job I don't want to be doing it on a regular basis!

Definitely got a break on the weather to work on this, it's like springtime out there this afternoon. Won't last long though. Tomorrow winter is back!

I'm not sure we're on the same page here. There's 2 speaker wires running into every door that has a speaker. Only 2 - positive and negetive. If you have more than than, perhaps you have tweeters, but there'd only be 2 more. BUT, every speaker in your Jeep needs 2 wires to operate. No more, no less. If a speaker is "cutting out" or not working at all, you need to trace your wires from beginning (the radio) to end (the speaker). I know it sounds like a lot of work, but well... that's 'cause it is. There's a loose connection somewhere. Up to you to find it.

Is this correct for the starter?

Remove the lower mounting bolt. Note this is an SAE bolt with 9/16 head. It goes in from the front of the starter.
Remove the upper bolt. This one is metric with a 15 MM head that goes in from the transmission side.
Remove the starter and lower it enough to remove the battery cable from the terminal. This is a 13MM.

So the longer SAE goes in the bottom? Trying to check for why its grinding. Figure its just a crappy reman, but just checking.

Anyone out there have this bumper? http://www.4wheelparts.com/Bumpers-T..._pn=S%2fB76812

Been thinking about picking it up. Heard smittybuilt isnt amazing on their powder coat skills but thats nothing some touch ups every now and then cant fix. But anyone have any information on fitting? Does it fit pretty decent or is there gaps far between the grill and bumper itself? Does it get in the way of certain approaches? Any input helps. Thanks!

That link is just for the stinger, not the bumper itself. I think that bumper runs like $450 and $200 if you want that stinger.

I have that bumper, and the rear tire carrier as well. It looks really, really dumb without either the stinger or the bull bar. Like Bubba Gump dumb.

Also, I would not buy them again. The front bumper was okay-ish but the rear was an absolute nightmare.
