Out of curiosity, when you discourage using the stop leak stuff, are you referring to the one that is a silver powder in a small plastic tube. Has maybe and ounce or two of material? Or something else.
I've used the power stuff most of my life with excellent results, and still use it occasionally for leaks in my trucks because radiators in this part of the world are expensive and last about a year.
No, I don't lick fish.
All things considered, I agree pulling the head and taking care of it once and for all is the way to go.

As far as your issue of going through radiators so quickly (wow!), there's more to be concerned about than just the radiator. If you've ever replaced a head gasket, you know that the cooling passages are prone to build up on the walls... a lot like cholesterol in blood veins. So why add to the problem by putting in a "sticky" solution that's supposed to adhere, swell up, and plug holes?
I just wouldn't risk it unless it's very temporary to get me by until fixing the problem... and I would make it an ASAP fix... but that's just me.

Has anyone used bestline the reason I ask is I had a seized up 4.0 I was trying to get the transmission off of and the guy at Orileys suggested this stuff, I ended up going with an acetone/ATF mix but it caught my interest.
And the other reason I ask is because of the product details, it's the second bullet point

I got a junk yard header panel. Mounted to it - right under the hood release mechanism - was a small solenoid looking thing attached to two wires. Assuming that it was something I didn't have - I left it there in the junkyard. But when installing the header panel I found that exact same widget dangling on my Jeep - because the header panel was broken and there had been nowhere to mount it.
What is that little widget?
What is it called?
What does it do?
Why is it there?
