2001 Jeep xj engine surging HELP!!!!
I've checked the fuel pressure (47.5 psi), replaced the tps, aic, and cleaned the throttle body. There's no vacuum leaks that I can detect and the engine is not misfiring it just won't idle without surging. I've also looked down by the exhaust manifold by the O2 sensors for cracks and have none. It idles o.k. when cold but when it gets warm it gets to the point that it won't even keep running. Ideas? This is driving me crazy not driving my Jeep...

A buddy of mine was given these, then he gave them to me. He never ran them and doesn't know anything about them. I was wondering if anybody here could tell me anything (who made them, are they any good....) I'm going to put them on soon I'd just like to know what they are. (Obviously they're lower control arms, I do know that much. Haha)

Ok even tho It'll have probably no affects on my jeep I asked on here a awhile back like back in January about dif fluid bc I was gonna buy a new cover and I got 80w-90 fluid to replace the old well I got on alldata today and 75w-90 is recommended for my jeep. But it recommended 80w-90 for tow package. So my question is how exactly do you know if your vehicle had the tow package new. Also is anyone running 80w-90 in their difs? If so do you like it? Or would you rather run75w-90 Ik it's not a big difference but I've been thinking about going and getting the right stuff even tho it's not much of and difference.

They are far more different than you think. A lot changed in 1997 from the previous models.

75W-90 GL-5 for normal use
75W-140 GL-5 synthetic for factory tow package (not sure why this spec is different than the one below)
80W-140 GL-5 for trailer towing applications
Fiction Modified added for Trac-Lock differentials
I use 75W-90 in the front diff and 80W-140 in the rear diff since I do a bit of towing, and also take my Jeep off road. The heavier weight oil is better under the increased stresses.
