XJ Ask the Question Thread
#5971
thats the one I got for my xj, I would suggest reinforcing the upper outside mount from inside the jeep jeeps with the rack factory have an extra piece that attaches to the inside of the body, If i had a pick I would show you sorry if it makes no sense. other than that it might be best to get some measurements of an xj that has one on already just so everything lines up after you cut

it is a little more than a backing plate it is kinda shaped like this:
/ <- attaches to the seem just below the window
l <- where the top mount is
\ <- attaches to seem of the floor and inner fender?
the piece isn't really heavy duty or anything it is its shape the keep the mount from ripping the body and can be easily made by hand
hope this helps

First of all...why 6.5" of lift? If it's to fit tires over 33", you'll need a lot more than just suspension/steering modifications (gear change, upgraded axles, etc). Note that you don't actually need to go that high to fit big tires

Ill never rule out going through lakes but also I guess I'm doin it just to do the mod. Oh an the cowl intake is the THOR brand

Wanna bother you guys again real quick. I believe I already know the answer to this but I'm just curious. If I wanted to put a np242 in my 01 would I only need the TC and the shift stick bezel.

Not trying to hijack syco, I just don't want to post a thread for a little question.
I installed a thermostat yesterday, Stant Superstat 195, as well as a new thermo housing. I had been awake for going on 24 hours and may have installed it sideways, or even upside down. The spring is in the engine block as it should be, so the wax will be in the coolant.
What would happen if I installed my thermostat sideways or upside down? Should I pull the thermo and orient it one way or another? I'd rather not if at all possible, I've been doing a massive coolant system flush and just put a quart of cleaner in there. I've sunk more money that I wanted to already and having to buy more cleaner would tick me off more than I care to admit, lol.
Thanks for the help folks.

Well, I don't know what to do then. I just went for a short drive and it started overheating. I am running on just water right now, could that be it?
