i should also mention that the belt has been of just recently and this has started after reinstalling it. it also does squeal. it was much worse and have tightened it down twice now to where it seems tight but still squeaks a little, no where near as bad as it did.
I have been told to just keep adjusting it until i find the sweet spot. my question in that regard is how tight ?, and do i need to loosen the power steering pump to spin the adjuster or can i simply turn that bolt and tighten the belt with out loosening anything else?
Youll need to loosen the idler pulled and then adjust the top bolt then tight the idler back. Rule of thumb I've heard is it should only flex about 1/4 inch down but when I did a new belt I kept tightening until squeal went away.

if your looking for a front ds to replace the one in the rear after installing an sye, how do you know if it will fit your xj?

i mean does the jy vehicle you take it out of have to have matching tc or engine? does it need to have same transmission? ect.

I get about 1 and 1/2 gals in like this, then I fill the reservoir up to halfway between the add and fill mark. The air left in the system will get out in time, so you're just going to have to check your reservoir often and add as needed. I've noticed that if you let the engine cool for about an hour or so, you'll get a pretty accurate reading at the reservoir. So heat it up, then watch a movie or something.

Also, when you install your thermostat, take a good look at it for markings as to up, down, left, or right. Mine already had very tiny holes for bleeding air out already, and an L on one inside arm indicating it goes toward the left side. I missed these the first time through. I've read about others who have drilled it out just like you mentioned with no ill effects, though, so do as you wish.
thanks for all the help guys i put a new tstat and hose in i drilled 2 hole in it one at the top and one at the bottom it fixed it so far

That's good to hear! If I have to pull my tstat again, I'll check about doing the same thing. What size hole did you drill?

ok i turned the thermostat so the points where the bracket where the spring is held on and the flange meet horizontally and i drilled 1 7/64 hole in the top and 1 7/64 hole in the bottom

i used 7/64 holes because on my friends toyota it has a hole in it about this size

also i have another question for the forum at what temp should the auxiliary fan kick on? im not sure if mines working properly or it just hasn't got hot enough to turn on

I don't know what temp it should kick on at, but I can give you a real quick way to test if the fan is working. Disconnect the temp sensor wires from the sensor at the tstat housing, and turn on the XJ. Your fan should be spinning. Make this test quick, I hear that without a temp sensor, the engine burns a lot of gas. You're going to have a Check Engine light warning, but this will go away when you reconnect the temp sensor. I found this out by accident when I first replaced my tstat, lol.

im changin the doors on my 2 door cherokee, and i am havin troubles gettin the bolts out. One has stripped on the bottom (already have fender pulled) and the top 2 i cant get to because the hing has broken the welds from the tub and i cant get to the bolts.

So whats a way i can get to them without screwin up to much. Im not worried about the door itself, but i need to keep the hinges sense i dont have any extras. We have tried to drive the pin out of the hing but cant get it to move any.

Any ideas??

Check your fuel pressure. Does she also idle hard before stalling. Does your electrics still work when she stalls.
