Check fuses 15,17&19. Then go from there.

Well I'd have to go with the grand Cherokee. You should also look g the wrangler too. I'm not big on the 4 door design but I'll get you through the snow.

Default Compressor

I recently purchased a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport and am attempting to fix all its minor quirks. Does anyone know a good website for finding affordable used parts, particularly a compressor for the A/C?

the directions never said anything
Whenever you install a SYE and CV style driveshaft, you need to adjust the degree shims in the rear axle setup, and remove any transfer case drop you may have. Add/subtract degree shims so the pinion of the axle points parallel with the driveshaft (with the weight on the axle)

Sorry to ask again folks, but I could really use a picture of the switch to jump for testing a compressor clutch in a 92. A crude drawing would even be nice lol If someone could explain it like I'm 5, I'd really appreciate it.

The compressor does not even click on. I've heard that it could be low on freon (which means a leak somewhere) or a bad compressor clutch. I'd like to test my clutch but don't know what switch to jump, or where it would be. If anybody has a picture I would really appreciate it, that would be the best. This is a 92, so ya know, and thanks in advance.
There is a low pressure switch on top of the accumulator on the passenger side of the compressor. Unplug it and just a paper clip to jumper the pins. If the compressor kicks on, you need to recharge your a/c system.

If just the aux. fan kicks on, try LIGHTLY tapping on the compressor clutch with the plastic end of a large screwdriver. It may be just frozen up or in need of shim adjustment.

1) You have the AX-15 transmission like I do. Before I go any further, I need to make sure you have the right fluid (I have yet to find the correct fluid in an auto parts store - I had to order it online). The AX-15 needs 75W-90 GL-4 gear lube. Most fluid you find in auto parts store is GL-5 spec fluid, which will eat away the brass syncros in our transmission. Two very good examples of the correct fluid are Redline MT-90 or AMSOIL MTG.

To get the fluid in, there are two plugs on the drivers side of the tranny, one towards the top (the fill plug) and one towards the bottom (the drain plug). Make sure to remove the fill plug FIRST in case you have trouble removing the plug, otherwise you'll have no way to get fluid back in. To refill the tranny you will need a suction pump to transfer the fluid from the bottle into the top hole. Fill till oil starts coming out of the hole, let it finish coming out, and plug it back up.

2) I assume you are talking about your U-joints. To replace these you must pull the hub. There are 3 12-point bolts on the back of the hub that connect it to the knuckle. There is also a 36mm hub nut that connects the shaft to the hub. While it is possible to replace the joint without removing this large nut, it is MUCH easier to change the joint if you separate the hub from the axle shaft.
