4.0L (with a Chrysler symbol next)
A bounch of dots (looks like a clock with one hand pointing between the 8&9).

My friend wanted to know if my inline 6 cylinder (242 cid) was any different (more horse power) than any other 6 cylinder?

Thanks!~John
They are casting numbers. 12-26-1988 is the date of the casting.
For a 1989 Cherokee you have a 4.0L with the "Renix MPI" computer system. This was the system before they came out with the High Output engines, which means you have less power than the newer 4.0L Cherokees.

From the factory the 4.0L engine put out:
173 hp (129 kW) @ 4500 rpm / 220 lb·ft (300 N·m) @ 2500 rpm 1987
177 hp (132 kW) @ 4500 rpm / 224 lb·ft (304 N·m) @ 2500 rpm 1988−1990
190 hp (142 kW) @ 4750 rpm / 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) @ 4000 rpm 1991−1996
190 hp (142 kW) @ 4600 rpm / 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) @ 3000 rpm 1997−1999
193 hp (144 kW) @ 4600 rpm / 231 lb·ft (313 N·m) @ 3000 rpm 2000−2001

Exclamation WTH?

I replaced the electric cooling fan in my 01 three days ago and the replacement has already bit the dust. they both cracked in the same spot, and from what i can tell it looks like they rubbed the inside of the fan shroud. has anyone dealt with this before?

Random question. But after a 3.5 inch lift, do you have to re aim the headlights?

You shouldn't need to if you lift the front and back equally.

I wasn't aware that any XJ's came with "stock" aplifiers.

That's pretty sweet. Are they any good? Well I guess as long as they do what they are meant to, then they are. Did this start in '01?

Not sure the year they started. I found mines by accident under there and yea they do give you a good signal on the radio. I'll snap a pic when it gets lighter out and post it

By law yes you should. They're only allowed to be aimed so far off the ground (at a certain distance).

That said, 3.5" isn't much and won't make that big of a difference. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok. So I heard from the guy I bought my jeep from that. I could find lift kits for under $500 and I am having trouble finding them. Does anyone know of any good websites to go to?
