There is a canister right behind your battery with a throttle cable and vacuum hose attached to it. Check the vacuum hose. Cut and reattach as necessary.

Worked for me.

So I wanted to kinda of make sure I am running the right weight fluids in my XJ. I know everyone has there own opinon as brands of oil go, I am more looking for ie. 10w 40......
Also Front and Rear differntails, Transfer Case, Transmission AW4. Also I have read that DOT 5 is the best brake fluid out there cause it does not brake down when it gets wet or water in it. Safe for the Jeep?

Currently I use Dexton III for the Transmission, Front diff I just drained and used 75W 90 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic, Motor oil I just changed with 10W 40 Castrol Full Synthetic.

This might be a no brainier to some, and I know cars somewhat. But I would hate to be the guy that thinks hes extending the life of his Jeep but in turn is actually damaging it with the wrong fluids.

Sounds fine. Dot 5 is good. could get away with a less viscous oil, 30w maybe.

Default Need a good Opinon

My GF is looking at some stuff on CL and was asking me about it I have read the online writeup on how to do this and I think that I can but am wondering if its really worth it as she wants it by winter in the DC area and is afraid of getting caught in the snow.

1 http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/2577475818.html

2 http://frederick.craigslist.org/cto/2612942048.html

3 http://smd.craigslist.org/cto/2612133367.html

I have a few skills as I have my own Jeep that I love dearly and work on but if you know of any others shes only looking to spend about 800 or less and wants a good value. She wants it cause she needs to drive to Va and lives in southern MD (Calvert, Annapolis) and is afraid of getting stuck in the snow. Thanks guys you all great.

i think the 2 for 1 deal is the good one. thats if you get both for the 1000 or 1500 for both. but thats just me. brake line and transfer case is easy fix. and the battery is super easy

Default check valve

Jeep has long cranks before it starts if it sits for 1-2hrs or more unless I prime the system. I am going to drop the tank tomorrow when I have access to a shop and lift. What I am wondering is do i need the whole fuel pump assembly, or just the pump? I know the check valve in the 97+ is in the tank. Just dont know if i can get the $100 pump or if I need the $320 assembly. Its a 1997 4.0.

Default Diagnosing Start Up Issue

I'm pretty sure my battery is just going out, but I just want some reassurance before I go out and drop some coin. I can flip the ignition on and the fuel pump primes and it cranks very slowly and then speeds up more. It just has a hard time turning over. I can get it to turn over if I try long enough, but I have another car so I don't put to much stress on it. After I get it to start though, if I let of the gas it'll die. But if I keep it at 2000 rpm's for a minute or so and kinda charge it up it will stay running. Voltage guage has no abnormal changes when I drive (only goes down when I run heat and so on)

So what do you think? battery? and if so anybody recomend a certain brand? I'm all stock and I live in chicago, so it gets pretty cold in winter (not sure if it matters or not)

Thanks for the help guys!

Sounds like a battery issue to me, most parts stores will test for free.

I prefer optima redtops but they are fairly expensive. Next best batteries I.M.O are

1. Optima redtop
2. Diehard
3.Duralast gold
4. Interstate

It's not a skid per say, just a cover.

I have one also - It's way better than nothing if that's what you're wondering
