It SHOULD already be charged. But I would make sure anyways.

It was charged, I tossed it on my charger for the hell of it and it was good to go. I was talking more like add water to the battery or something, this is my first battery replacement so I didn't know how to go about it.
Thanks though.
Now I just have to find a new tie down for the battery.... Mine seems to be MIA

Most good batteries are maintenance free. Some of the Neverstarts jk (they're actually a brand of interstate batteries) are still serviceable so just carefully open the covers and just add a little distilled water. PLEASE WEAR EYE PROTECTION! But since the battery is new you don't have to do anything to it.

Default 98-99 Durango Steering Box Question

I'm going to the junk yard this weekend looking for a steering box from a Durango, are there any special tools I will need?

Hey I've had the same everstart that came in my truck for about 6 years now. Hasn't let me down once, even after my alternator died and I drove an hour home.

Yea...a big ****ing hammer, and some BIG sockets. Theres a stupid crossmember directly below the durango steering linkage that you can't remove, so you'll need to do everything from the front. Highly recommend ripping out the radiator and header panel to make your life a little easier. Idler arm and pitman for the steering will be a HUGE pita (can't get to the bottom of it with a puller). Basically, I had to pull the steering box, and ALL the steering linkages up and out where the radiator was. Took about 6 hours of swearing.

Hey, but once you got it - follow my writeup

Default brakes!

I have a 1989 cherokee that's having major brake problems. I can push the pedal to the floor and the brakes barely respond. A mechanic friend of mine suggested replacing the master cylinder and i did but still no luck. I've bled them twice and the pedal still goes to the floor. Any ideas?

yup! It's a POS Bendix 9 ABS pressure system

And yes, there's a lifetime recall on the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor only.

RECALLS SUMMARY

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
JEEP / CHEROKEE 1989-1991
JEEP / WAGONEER 1989-1991
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 96V260000
Summary:
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS). THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT CAN EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON SEAL WEAR WHICH COULD CAUSE PUMP-MOTOR DETERIORATION.
Consequence:
IF THIS OCCURS, THE ABS FUNCTION WOULD BE LOSE AND REDUCED POWER ASSIST WOULD BE EXPERIENCED DURING VEHICLE BRAKING. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS WILL SIGNAL SYSTEM IMPAIRMENT AND THE BASE MANUAL BRAKES WILL REMAIN FUNCTIONAL.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL TEST THE VEHICLE'S ABS AND REPAIR AS NECESSARY. THE WARRANTY ON ALL ABS COMPONENTS WILL BE EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES (EXCEPT FOR THE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON ASSEMBLY AND THE PUMP-MOTOR ASSEMBLY WHICH WILL HAVE A LIFETIME COVERAGE). OWNERS WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR PREVIOUS ABS COMPONENT REPAIR COSTS.
My advice - if you plan on keeping the jeep and driving it - swap out that ****ty system for one out of a late model cherokee. There's a bunch of guides floating around

compressor problem... when I'm idling my compressor turns on and off every 5 to 10 seconds. When I'm moving it's fine. This can't be normal right?

I don't shift it fast normally(until little rice races pull up and rev there lil motors) and i almost always shift under 2k rpms. The kid i got it from said "man its got a brand new clutch but i think it needs adjusting" .I looked at him like he was about dumb as a box of rocks .It is a hydro clutch not a cable or "manual" clutch. But i just said to him okay Ill adjust it and got in the jeep and went home lol

The spec for our trannies (the AX-15 5-speed) is

75W-90 GL-4 Gear Lube.

Not GL-5 lube, not motor oil. GL-5 lube will eat your brass syncros (if you have any left from the PO that is).

I use AMSOIL MTG in mine. Redline MT-90 is good also.
