I'm on my phone so sorry if it has been asked i just cant find it. My friend just bought a 99 cherokee, the PO said he replaced the whole front end...everything but ball joints. And installed a rugged ridge steering set up. Well after driving it the hour and a half home the noise in the front end got louder and this afternoon we crawled up under the jeep. All the steering components shift. You can grab the track bar or drag bar and move your wrist and watch the outer tie rod ends pivot. Is there a way to tighten this? The tie rod ends are supposedly new and are tightened but i dont get why its shifting...any suggestions are appreciated.

If the steering link pivots in the ***** it is ok but it shouldn't have play up/down and left/right.

Going to a JY in a hour or so, Anybody know what tools I will need for a battery tie down? Or do you think it'd save me a head ache to just buy one from a parts store?

Have a 1997 Cherokee 4.0L w/ 196,000 - 1. have hard starting problems for several months, and seems it is getting a little worse (longer cranking before 'popping off') 2. stalling, dropping to below 400-500 rpms when coming to a stop 3. choking up when accelerating at 1200-1900 rpm's. Believe it or not, I changed the gas cap and #'s 2 and 3 have not been an issue in last week. I have 50# of fuel pressure and yesterday changed the plugs and wires. Could it be coil/distributor; anyway to test either? Please offer any ideas and help. Thank you.

Default High Torque Starter?

On a basic 4.0L or even a stroker, is a high torque starter (Mean Green, PowerMaster, etc.) even worth it? ($$$$) Really what are the gains?

I just started working/building my XJ a year ago, so yes I am a "Newbie".

High torque starters were basically meant for high compression engines. The stock starter isotropic than enough for our needs. Now if you go the stroker route then it wouldn't hurt.

Well I got the tie down set just using some brute strength
But now I need to know how I can put it in! I think I can slip one side in fairly easily but the other side not so much... Does the shelf the battery sits on come off? Otherwise I don't know how I could fit the other one in. Help please!

Have a 89 xj, my defroster works. But when i turn it over to heat or vent none of the front vents blow out heat. Any suggestions? Check the fuse, took the heater control panel off and all wires are connected

Vacuum leak to or from your vacuum ball that's behind your front bumper

Sounds like the CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor)

Try a fuel filter. A CPS won't kinda not work. They are either working or not.

That's odd becuase I had the exact same issue, already had a brand new (and adjusted) Throttle Position Sensor, new FUEL FILTER, new cap and rotor, new spark plugs.

I changed out the old CKP, and my issue went away...
