Mine never gets above like 205 under highway speeds. Only reaches 220ish at hot idle like at a drive thru or in traffic.
Thats what i thought, im a 12 year Jeep Master Tech and this is my personal toy and it has me baffled! Will not get hot at all sitting or going slow mainly just at highway speeds. like it has something to do with flow across radiator at speed. Does have 35" tires Gears and big bumbers and a winch in front w/ lights on it.

I have bilstien shocks on my rough country lift. So, I don't see why you couldn't put Rubi's on.

i see you said vaccuum filled but maybe you can try and burp anyways. But a better theory is maybe those fans just simply arent moving air for some reason when driving fast. Like the wind slows down their movement cause natural wind should even keep it cooler. Or maybe you can remove winch and run without it as a test to see if that is obstructing something. Just a thought to help keep the stone rolling

Default Need help please!

Hi everyone I am new to this site and am pleading for some help. I have a 1997 Cherokee 4x4 I-6 with about 145000 miles i purchased about 6 months ago. The issue is that rpms at idle are increasing and decreasing but very slightly....maybe 100 rpms. It starts, idles, runs good but this rpm change is driving me crazy. It also does this weird thing while coasting at 50 mph or more where if i let off the gas the rpms drop rapidly to about 1000 rpm and then comes up and down without ever touching the gas again. I thought this might have been an issue with the TPS but i tested it and also replaced it with no luck. I removed the throttle body and cleaned every passage and installed a new IAC as well. I did a full tune up with Beldin wires and Champion copper plugs gapped to factory specs and ran some Lucas Fuel Treatment but cannot figure this out. No check engine light has even come on and i used my scanner to see if any codes were pending. I traced out the vacuum lines as best as possible and couldnt find any leaks or cracks. I am wondering if this might be an internal problem but oil is clean and doesnt burn and coolant looks good as well. It does seem to have alot of water/moisture come out of tailpipe when cold. MPG seems to be around 14mpg but I only drive in town. It has a 3 inch lift with 30 inch tires so i guess thats about right. Any help or direction would be great as i have tried everything i can think of.

Default straight piped

i have a '99 cherokee ok. so ive got a pretty musch strictly trail jeep but ended up having to make it my dd lately. i busted the exhaust on a big rock, and cut it off right before the cat. i wasnt worried about fixing it because it was my trail truck and i got busy. but then i had to start driving it, so i put a piece of flex pipe between right in front of where the cat was and right behind were the muffler was. ran fiine, threw P0138 the 2nd o2 sensor, knew that was going to happen. dont care. but now its started not running right. only when i start driving it like almost dies, get ahold of second aand it evens out. smell unburnt fuel to. and a pretty good loss of power over all. i think the computer is just adjusting the fuel:air, but what should i do to fix it cheap and just make it run good?

Thank you,

It sounds like an O2 sensor issue, since it's piped it no longer reads in it's normal setting. The O2 sensor reads your exhaust and tells the computer what kind of fuel air mixture it needs to be taking in, thus your symptoms of unburnt fuel and sputtering/dying. I recommend getting some sort of cat since it's illegal not to have them anyway.

Just a note that in the future: that talk of cat removal is NOT allowed on this forum

And thank you for your service to this country.

Either way, I suggest you add Firestone Destination tires to your list. I run the M/T flavor and couldn't be happier. Both the M/T and the A/T are at the top of the ratings on Tirerack. Great traction and treadwear on both styles.

I had firestone destination AT's on my GMC 3/4 pickup and i got roughly 60,000 miles out of em. excellent tread wear. Not the BEST in gravel, but it was a really heavy truck too.....
eitherway

that's enough for me to trust the MT
I think thats my next tire.

plus they looks pretty cool lol

how are those destination AT on wet roads and light and heavy snow and mud, not deep. My dilema is deciding between the BFG at and the destination at and really im not gonna do major offroading so i was leaning towards the destinations. I just really like the look of the BFGs.

I know a lot of people who don't like the BFG A/Ts - supposedly they have not so good wet traction on the road, and are poor in wet off-road

Are there a known issues with the front door speakers of an XJ not working 100% of the time? Mine go on and off on their own. I've replaced the head unit and speakers and still have the problem. I really don't want to re-wire everything if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I've found on 3 different XJs that the break is inside the door where the wire splits for the Infinty speakers. Thats the plug up near where the wires head out to the mirror. Follow that down to where they split to the regular speaker and that green wire has been broken there evey time.

yup. Almost everyone has this issue at one point. Have to replace the wire running though the door bridge. Take off the kick panel and the connection should be right there - no need to go all the way to the headunit.
