I went though this a little over a year ago. Turned out I had a poor connection between the starter and the engine block (the starter uses the block as a ground). Try taking the starter out and cleaning the mating surfaces really well, then reinstalling. If that's not the cause follow my guide:

will there be problems if you do splice the wires?
Mine somehow(I assume a bush) got completely cut so I just put them back together.
shes running fine.
havent checked for codes though..

Hey guys I have a 91 limited xj and my fan clutch is acting strange it will come on fo a bought 30secpnds then go off another 30 seconds goes buy same thing any ideas?

if you really want to get professional
The most secure way I've found to splice automotive wiring is to solder it. That way you never have a connection that will corrode in the future. Before soldering it, slip a piece of shrink tubing over the wire. Then twist the wires together, solder them, and pull the shrink tubing over the splice. Heat shrink the tubing tight to the splice. then I usually go over that with some electrical tape too lol.
To do it this way, you need a soldering iron or gun, solder, and shrink tubing and how ever much extra wire. It'd probably be easier if you only went 1 wire at a time. match the wire gauge up best as you can.

replace fixed vent window on a 94 cherokee
I am ready to put this window in but need a little coaching! I have replaced auto windows before but was afraid of breaking this one when I last tried because of its shape having the narrow point at the top. Do i need to remove interior door panel for better access, or, can i get it in using 3/16" rope as I have in the past on other windows by just getting it started, and, then pulling the rope from the inside? I have searched far and wide for an answer both here and using mr google . Hoping someone has an answer....... Thx...

Spliced my 02 sensors, cause the guy at the store told me to when I told him it didn't work. It seems to be running fine.

Then I have a problem. I matched up all like colors. They were all about the same length, except the black. It was twice as long. So instead of being ripped in half it must have been pulled out of the sensor entirely. Hopefully you can see it in these pics.
