Me too, dude. I just developed a loud rattle/knock at the front of my engine that started as a rattle at 2500 rpm before shifting. DREADING A MECHANIC VISIT! Was hoping it was my transmission.

Basically all I hear is "You need to get a mechanic to (do something you can probably do yourself and spend tons of your money!"

With a t-case drop, is there anything I need to do in regards to linkages? Or will everything still be operational even thought it's 1-2 inches lower?

98 G Cherokee Laredo 4.0 was put on machine today to try to get codes for what the problem may be in the transmission. No codes were displayed not even showing that the speed sensor was unplugged. Repair shop is at a loss as am I. Any suggestions as to why it wouldn't display codes? I know I'm probably going to end up having to get a new transmission.

so i put in my front driveshaft today went in all good and went to drive it around in 4wd and came up with this, there was a clicking when i put it in 4x4 part time, full time 4x4 just grinded like it wasnt fully engaging, 4x4 low worked but also clicked. so do i need to take my shims out of my differential drop to get a little less pitch on there? maybe extend the driveshaft a bit since it is adjustable? it did this to the boot around it when i drove with it but wasnt in 4x4 see the boot and clips are just gone? its guna snow soonn i need to figure this outt, thanks in advancee guys!

Read between the lines a bit- working 1100 miles from home with limited tools, living in a small town which has cops who won't let you work in even a vacant lot AND staying at a condo which doesn't allow any "at home" maintenance further than a wash and wax.

I got a ticket for loitering while changing my water pump on the side of the road. So, YES, I use the 'M word' more than usual with a short list of options.

I have a 2001 Cherokee and a couple days ago the check gauges light came on and my volt meter was topped out and the interior lights started flashing, it randomly wouldnt start the next day so i jumped it off and got the battery tested it has full charge, then it started fine. Did the same thing today(check gauge light, etc) then started fine. Anyone seen this before?

I put HIDs in it last week and they seem to be working fine, but wonder if they are causing it or colder weather maybe.

I know it's a slightly diff. setup than newer years.. but my 2000 took me less than 15 minutes, in the parking lot at my work, last February.. and it was pretty cold out. So, my hands weren't working so well. If you've never done a starter before, just remember to disconnect your battery.. you'll realize pretty quickly if you haven't.

Does anyone really prefer one brand over another, when it comes to aux. lighting?
